“Sea View Inn was very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We enjoyed staying at the Sea View Inn because of the following: Tremendous staff that was very friendly and went out of their way to ensure a good stay for us, fantastic location on the beach, great restaurant on the premises.

The room was large with two walk-in closets, a large balcony overlooking the bay, and lots of storage space. The only negative was the tiny bathroom which had practically no room to store items.

The wait staff was the best I've experienced anywhere, and the concierge and other hotel staff were extremely helpful and always friendly.

The downside is that it is located in a very posh area (right across from fancy Ball Harbour shops) and we would have preferred to stay somewhere closer to more affordable stores and restaurants.

Would definitely recommend this property for its location on the beach, spacious room, and fantastic restaurant and hotel staff.

Room Tip: Pick a room with balcony and water views.

“Not a bad hotel....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

This hotel probably could use a refurbishing, it's true. On the other hand, it's still quite okay the way it is, unless you're one that prefers a high-tech and glitzy look in hotels. If that's your preference, pass on this hotel. Still, it doesn't have the feel of a run-down hotel even if it isn't quite "up-to-date." Essentially, it's a conservative, "European" style hotel in the midst of the Route-A1A "luxury towers" which has a good number of hotels with more "newness."

The Sea View is very quiet and right on the beach and it has, in my opinion, an overall comfortable "feel" to it even if the "newness" factor would better be addressed by the owners.

If you'd opt for the continental-breakfast, don't expect too much, though there are limited hot dishes available like french-toast, for example, and it should be satisfying. On the other hand, you can order whatever you want from the regular menu, if you'd wish, and pay for that accordingly.

My main objection isn't so much that the hotel rooms are a bit "out-dated." Rather it is that, while well-kept with evening turn-down service, the bathrooms suffer from that scorge of a genuinely good stay at a hotel in a resort atmosphere or anywhere else, for that matter...mildew. This is something that I personally find objectionable, and it will now make me think twice about staying at the Sea View in the future...and I had stayed there many times since I go to southern Florida often. On the other hand, I want to point out that the rooms including the bathroom are very clean. But, the photos speak for themselves and for that reason I think the hotel doesn't qualify for a "very good" rating...and someone ought to pay attention to that....

Room Tip: There are rooms that face the ocean and others that do not, that are priced accordingly.

“needs a re-deux”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Might be good for some type of low brow retro 1940's film set. staff is a bit rude. food is just okay, kind of a weird place. nearly half the place is privately owned and not rented out day to day. makes for a strange visit. i would stay here if i got a really GREAT deal, otherwise move on. in room air conditioners are old school.> on off on off. super cool place i bet>> in the 1950's...wireless is barely acceptable. No free newspaper. No comp breakfast. Everyone has their hand out$$.

“Probably chic and fabulous 40 YEARS AGO”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

I appreciate chic retro glam, but this is just too dated, faded, and ultimately just sort of tired and sad. Needs a total renovation to bring back its past "glory" (which I suppose there was?). Would recommend staying at the Eden Roc or Fontainebleu in Miami Beach rather than the Sea View. I really wanted to like it, but I just didn't.

Room Tip: sea view helps . . .
