We were really happy that we booked this with only $140 a night. This is just on Sept 13, 2011. Room looks and feels nice, only when at 10am in the morning, a loud crazy drilling and hammering construction woke us up and shake me down my bed. One of their residence were doing remodel of the room, it is so loud that we're on 2nd floor, the whole 2nd and 1st floor hears it very clearly. I swear to god, I can't even hear my husband who is right next to me. When I called front desk, we have to wait until the construction is paused in order to hear each other on the phone. I ask front desk to please stop since we are on vacation and need some sleep, they said no can do, they have to finish it, and I was being asked to go out to get some breakfast by my own if we want some quietness. Same thing happened the next morning. We tried to get a hold of manager, but was told two managers got fired, so no manager until next two days. Majority guests there speaks Spanish, I suspect they'll put a review up here. I was actually encouraged by the front desk - Young, a girl who ask me to write review about this issue. She told us lots customer complained about it, and there's nothing she can do or the management will do. Overall, we didn't get any good sleep, and had the most horrify experience. Believe me, we travel a lot, we have been to over 100 hotels, none like this. After all, we have to find a new hotel for us, there's no way to stay in a construction zone to torture yourself.

This is by far one of the best hotel experiences I've had in a while. The Quarzo hotel is beautifully designed, with high attention to detail, everything from the hallways to furniture and room accessories is pleasant! This place feels like staying on a luxury condo rental instead of a hotel.
Staff was extremely friendly, at the same time discreet and very respectful. Location was great for us, because we wanted to stay away from the over-the-top Miami experience and the overwhelming resort vacation. Also, despite being such a nice hotel, nobody here seems to be even slightly snob (as it happens sometimes at boutique hotels).
Bal Harbour is a beautiful, quiet and very upscale area, still close to shops, great restaurants and amazing beaches.
Toileteries were replaced almost everyday in our bathroom, we also got several small gifts in our room during our 1 week stay (chocolates, a cute paper fan, jelly beans on a mini-jar). When we requested a couple of extra towels for the room, the housekeeping ladies left about 5 more!. When we wanted to print our flight boarding passes, the guests printer was not working, so they allowed us to use a computer on the front desk and print directly from there. There's is free WIFI in the room, it was great to get some work done, send some emails and plan our vacation on-site.
Perhaps the only suggestion I would make is for the hotel to have a bar / snack service.

The service at the Quarzo was excellent - from the time you check in to the time you check out, the staff have everything covered and are extremely pleasant. I received an amazing upgrade from a normal room to a huge 1 bedroom suite, which was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. The entire hotel is very well kept, clean and beautiful. I would definitely recommend the Bar Harbour Quarzo for anyone looking to enjoy Miami away from the South Beach scene.
