“Room was small, but otherwise, not a bad place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

We mainly chose the hotel for its location, convenience and price, but you get what you pay for. We know Wilmington very well, because we used to live there. The location is ideal. It's convenient to the Philadelphia airport and any place else you need to get to in the Wilmington area. It is across the road from a shopping mall and not far from grocery, pharmacy and the like. They are chain restaurants very close by and other nicer restaurants not far away. The room, however, was small and if you don't spend any time in it, not bad. The bed was not as nice as you would get at a Sheraton, Hilton or comparable hotel. The staff was very personable, but they have few amenities, like someone to help with luggage. The restaurant only serves breakfast.

“Average Hotel for Business Travel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2010

I saw the other reviews and while a bit skeptical I still stayed as I’m a fairly loyal Marriott customer (love them points). Overall the hotel was average and decent for a business traveler. Hotel rooms had slightly older room decoration/furniture but they were still clean, comfortable and quiet. Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful for both check-in and out. Typical of a Courtyard there is no real restaurant or room service but they do have breakfast in the AM, but I didn’t try it. For dinner the hotel is just next door several other restaurants (TGIF, BBQ place, Olive Garden and Steak place) so lots of choices within a 2 min walk. Lave plenty of time in the AM if you have to go back to 95 as the traffic and lights can be a little slow.

I would stay again as its slightly lower prices than similar hotels in downtown Wilmington and not too far of a drive.

“Good stay - quite place. Nothing extraordinary.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2009

This was my first trip to Wilmington, Delaware. I wanted to pick a place reasonably priced and not too far from Wilmington (not downtown). A friend suggested this area. The hotel was located in a quite place next to a few other well known hotels. Parking was free. Check in was smooth. Room was spacious and nice towels in the bathroom like most other Courtyard. Internet was free - I use it all the time. Safe neighborhood. There is a TGIF restaurant close to the hotel and a mall within 2 mins from the hotel. I drove in and out at late nights without any issue. Overall a peaceful stay and no issues.

If you commute a lot during your travel and use I-95 freeway often, then I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the hotel from the nearest I-95 exit.

“Car window was smashed, hotel didn't care!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard, Wilminton DE, Rocky Run Road last week. On coming out Thursday morning, I found my car, and three other cars, had had the passenger window smashed and the interior rifled through. Lucky I had nothing of a personal nature in the car. The Courtyard front desk clerk was of zero help, and I got no other help from any of the staff. The DE state trooper said that this crime was common in that area, apparently there is a real heroin problem. Thids has happened before with that hotel, and in that area.

I was apalled with the lack of concern and help provided by the htotel. I have attempted to contact the manager 3 times, he does not answer the phone or return phone calls. Apalling too! Calls to Hersha Hotels also resulted in no response. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. A disgrace to the Marriott name.

“almost impossible to find and not worth finding”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2009

Hotel is hidden behind another hotel in an area where street signs have never occurred to the community board. Rooms are outdated, need painting, furniture is old and worn. Bed is hard. Front desk person could not give even the simplest of directions. Breakfast buffet has good food, but two guys running it were blaring some ridiculous TV show at 7 am on a Sunday morning, and despite 3 requests from my party, and another guest, did not lower the volume. Pool is nice, and very nice trails out back. Within walking distance to an Olive Garden where the service is extremely rushed - asked if we would like coffee and dessert a few seconds after entree served. I would not stay here again. There is a nice Homebound Suites next door which looks much better and updated.
