“Shower of problems and horrible service!!”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon night 2/19-2/20. Upon entering room #124 at 3am after our wedding, it looked decent. I went to get in the shower and noticed body hair all over the bathroom floor, like no one ever swept. I turned on the shower and the water came out of the faucet brown. I had to run the water for about 15 minutes until it ran clear. I noticed standing water in the bottom on the tub while showering. Then when I got out of the shower, the water was soaking wet from the tub leaking. We had to use 3 or 4 towels to soak up the water before it ran out the bathroom door into the living area. While I was in the shower my husband called the front desk and the night time front desk staff offered to leave a note but never offered to switch our room. Upon leaving the next morning 2/20 we notified the front desk staff and she personally called the manager Mary Taylor and asked if she should comp the room. Mary Taylor told her not to comp the room, that she would handle it on Monday morning 2/21. We never heard from Mary on Monday all day, I had to actually try to contact her that evening. When I called Monday evening 2/21, the girl at the front desk Nikki lied to cover for Mary by telling me she was on the phone and then all of a sudden she was out of the office. Nikki was rude and talked to me like I was a child, I could tell she didn't believe me. Wednesday 2/23 came around and Mary still hadn't returned my call so I tracked her down at the hotel. She also was extremely rude to me and said she had to investigate the situation. I asked her if she was going to return the $ to my card and she stated "I most certainly will not be doing that." She stated that she upgraded the room to a king executive suite and charged us a normal king room price, even though we never asked her to do that. It is now Tuesday 3/1 and we have left 5 messages total for Mary Taylor since that night, put in 2 complaints with the corporate office and also disbuted the charge with our credit card. This has been one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. We booked 12 rooms with them for our out of town wedding guests and to treat the bride and groom with such disrespect on their wedding night is rediculous. I will never ever stay at this hotel again nor reccomend it to anyone, maybe to my worst enemy.

“Good experience, good breakfast, good area!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

Not sure what all the past negative experiences have been about, but I would swear that we were not at the same place those reviewers were. Maybe improvements have been made since their stays (???) The room and bathroom areas were neat and clean, clean sheets and towels and very comfortable beds. Very central location, close to shopping and dining. The daily breakfast was good...very hot yummy coffee, good bagels, cereals, juice....nothing fancy, just a nice way to start the day. I would admit that the place is more "motel-like" than a hotel.....but we felt very safe. We brought our canine family member and the additional charge was only $25 for the entire stay. There are places to walk your pet, but you need to go to the side and back of the hotel, which is ok.

“Bed bugs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

No bed bugs on first night, but new sheets brought new bugs -- tons of them. We packed up and left in the middle of the night. At checkout, the desk clerk gave me the manager's business card and said to call her on Monday to see if she would adjust the rate. If we bring those bed bugs to our house, a rate adjustment will be inadequate.

“The Fort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

Great place for the money. I felt like I was in a fort. The rooms surround the pool. Wish I could have stayed another day to lounge around pool. Friendly helpful staff and great breakfast!

“Good value and pleasant from start to finish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

This hotel was recommended to me by a friend as a good value for the money. Then I saw the reviews on-line which led me to have a few questions about the place so I called them directly. I asked pointed questions about some of the things I had read and about the rooms which the staff member answered thoroughly. I decided to give the place a try. It was easy to find and check in was a breeze. The facility and room was clean and the staff was friendly. Several hours later the phone in our room rang and it was the staff member I had talked with the night before when I had called checking in to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and see if we needed anything. Wow...I was impressed! I thanked her for calling and assured her so far everything was just fine. We ate at the Hollywood Diner for both dinner and breakfast, which we found to be not only convienient but reasonably priced with good food and service. The entire stay was comfortable and we will stay again in the future.
