“If you want to sleep, don't go here”

We decided it would be a good place to stay because the location was the half way point of our trip. I've stayed in Motel 6's many times before but the fact that both of us had to show ID before we could enter the property should have been enough of a sign to turn around. There were people yelling in the parking lot all night. It was literally one of the worst nights sleep ever. The room was what I expected for being an old motel but I never felt entirely safe. I'll stay at Motel 6 again but never this one.

“Not bad for a nights stay”

After a long days drive, I needed a place to rest and found this motel because it was the first one I saw after crossing the bridge into Delaware. I was surprised with having the guard check my id before I was able to check in, but the way I saw it , at least they are trying to make sure that you are safe.

The room was a typical Motel 6 room, very basic and it was clean. Front desk personal were very friendly.

McDonald's right next door and a Dunkin Doughnuts two blocks up, so you do not have to travel far from the highway for a quick bite to eat

I would recommend this place if your looking for a place for an overnight stay while driving down 95.

“Reminded me of Africa”

I am male, 32, and I was traveling with my 26 year old brother. I chose this motel 6 as a place to sleep as it is a half-way point between my home in CT and family in VA, and of course, it is also somewhat cheap (about $55).
As the other reviewer wrote, I was kind of surprised by the guards. First I thought they were "wanna be" "mall security" type guards, then I saw they were packing pistols!!!
They dutifully requested ID and recorded our names, before we were allowed to check in. It was a bother, but also reassuring that my car would be safe in the lot overnight. (They are on duty till 6am & I parked right in front of their station)
The room did smell of Cigarette smoke and I hesitated to walk barefoot on the carpet., but the beds were clean and with earplugs and eye shades I slept quite well.
My brother and I have both lived overseas on the mission field so we are used to third world conditions, and thats probably why we were not so bothered, however, I would not readily bring a wife or kids to this location.
Once in VA we paid only $20 more for a luxurious room at the Marriot.
So, if you are a college age guy or a bachelor who normally lives in squalor anyway, this is the place for you. Everyone else, drive on to the next city!

“Turn The Light Out!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2006

On Friday- May 26, 2006 at about 10:30 pm, entering this properties parking lot, my husband & I were greeted by an armed security guard requesting our drivers license or some sort of photo ID's w/birth dates. This shocked us (being from NY), but we thought OK good security. We were then allowed access to the front desk to check in. We had booked our reservation online for 3 days because the pictures on their website were favorable and the price was reasonable for Memorial Day Weekend. The desk clerk was pleasent and noticed that my husband was on crutches and offered us a handicap room on the first floor - Room 105. Upon entering the room, the mildew smell was unbearable and accommodations were not fit for anyone, but since it was late, we tried to deal with it. After 1 hour, I felt sick and immediately checked out at 11:30 pm. They offered me another room (which I declined) or a full refund (which I took). Their slogan is : WE'LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON FOR YOU...but at this MOTEL 6 in New Castle, Delaware....PLEASE TURN THE LIGHT OUT!!
