I stayed at the Super 8 in Harrington this past weekend. Prices for other hotels in the area were sharply increased because of beach business, so I was forced to consider something less than the numerous Holiday Inn Express or AmericInn hotels in the area, which were double the price!
Pro's: My room was clean and spacious, refrig and microwave were standard, and bed slept well. Good location on the main drag and close to the Harrington gaming area.
Con's: Numerous bulbs were burnt out in the room and in the corridors, giving some hallways a dark appearance. Continental breakfast--mere minimum with juice, coffee, danish, and pre-wrapped bagels. Area could use some landscaping. Exterior is actually far worse than the interior, although I understand some of the rooms in the older section are quite small. One guest was in the courtyard area (if it can be called such) with two large dogs doing their doodoo! Guest room interior walls were fairly thin with conversation in the next room audible. Thankfully, my neighbors went to sleep fairly early. No shampoo or other bathroom amenities other than bar soap. Non-smoking room had the distinct odor of smoke, and I considered complaining, but realized that I was probably already in one of the better rooms offered here.
Summary: Okay place to stay if you are in late and leaving early in the morning. You could do worse at the price. Insist on a room in the south
wing of the building. If price is not an object, head across the road to the Holiday Inn Express or AmericInn.
