I stay in Dover once each month due to work commitments and this is the hotel I avoid at all costs!
I will say that if you are coming here for a drunken party and don't really care about noise or it does not bother you, then by all means, stay here. But be warned, there are much better places for less.
Customer service is not in their vocabulary. They did not even seem concerned when I told them that their restaurant Chops had burned my dinner and then charged my room even tho I had paid with my card at the restaurant. I should not have had to pay for that horrible food or the below par drink. I ordered from the appetizer menu, scallops - undercooked, made me sick, steak portabello - burned, we could not eat this. I was so mad I left and when I told the waitress to take the steak back because it was burned and I did not want it.. she brought me the bill with the steak on it and I had to wait for her to correct the bill!! With two small and tired children that was an ordeal. All I wanted to do was take my children for a nice meal and then off to swim and then bed. The swimming pool was not open or ready when they told me it would be so we did not get to use it at all while we were there, or the next stay either. So we had to settle for what I truly hoped would be a great dinner. So with no dinner either, we retreated to our room.
The next month we returned and we received a large fruit, juice and pastry selection as an apology. However, the next day when I returned from work, the bed was not made and the towels were thrown on the back of the toilet, trash was not taken out. I was not pleased as you can imagine.
When I spoke to the manager, she was not helpful and made as if nothing was wrong and the whole thing was MY fault. Again, no concern.
I have had so many bad experiences from Sheraton Dover with over 3 years of staying at hotels in Dover and keep in mind that not every stay was at the Sheraton.
Lack of concern when I told them something was wrong. Not one of their attendants even so much as blinked an eye.. not one.
The air conditioner unit under the desk leaked so bad we had to change rooms.
The walls are so thin that if someone is in the next room with the tv on or talking and you are trying to sleep, you WILL hear them like they are next to you. I have stayed on the 6th, 5th and 1st floors and this does not change. It is an old hotel with thin walls.
Things are not ready when they promise them to be ready. (swimming pool)
No breakfast is offered. They expect you to eat in their restaurant. Other hotels offer breakfast, even the ones which resemble small apartments with kitchens and real granite counter tops!
Base boards are falling off the walls, cables exposed in some rooms, some bathtubs drain slowly so that you are standing in water while you shower.
The carpet is stained throughout the hotel.
Terrible restaurant, food is overpriced and not good at all. Eat somewhere else.
Bar tenders? Not in this hotel or restaurant. Just random employees who work there putting together drinks from books with real training.
Bad customer service and low quality.
This is a hotel I recommend you avoid at all costs. There are numerous other hotels that you can get way more for your money. (The Hampton directly behind it is like a small B&B with a fabulous breakfast.)

Two friends and I came into Dover for quick gambling trip and this hotel was perfect for the occasion. The front desk was helpful and courteous and brought up an extra foldaway bed quickly when requested. The bar was pretty empty that night but we had a few quick drinks and it seemed like on a busier weekend it would have been a nice place to hang out. The breakfast buffet in the morning was good and the service was again prompt. Overall, no complaints and if I'm back in the area, will definitely stay here again.

Stayed one night. In close proximity to Delaware State University, many various restaurants, stores and Dover Downs Casino. Would gladly stay there again and recommend it highly. If you stay in or visit Dover, be sure stop to stop in and eat at Where Pigs Fly...great bbq ribs!
