“Priced right!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My son and I like to go to Dover Downs and usually stay at the hotel there, but because of the holiday weekend they were booked. I searched online and found the Days Inn and booked two rooms for Sunday night. I was delighted that I could get two king bed rooms for the price of one at some of the other motels in the area. Due to my son's work schedule I had to change our reservations to Saturday night instead and was very surprised that the rate was the same. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice, both on the phone and in person. The rooms were okay but not as updated as some of the previous reviewers mentioned. My bathroom toilet was loose on the floor, my heater was very noisy during the night, and my bed was not as clean as I would have liked (or as comfortable). Luckily for me, I had brought a pillow and blanket from home. It was nice to be able to park right in front of the room and the desk clerk gave us the closest rooms he had to the dining area, especially since it was so cold outside. I can't rate the breakfast because my son decided he wanted to eat elsewhere. I wouldn't rule out staying there again if necessary, maybe just in a different room!

“Better than average for a Days Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Although typical for a Day's Inn (with USA Today, internet, microwave, fridge, iron and board, in-room so-so coffee, and towels on the small and thin side) this one had beds dressed up a bit like more upscale ones, with extra pillows arranged at an angle over bedspread which was turned down, showing blanket encased in two sheets duvet-style. The room was decent sized, the bath small with vanity and sink in the dressing area. The place was clean, although I thought the bathroom floor was dirty until I realized that the two-tone effect on the tiles was due to a grout sealent that had been applied an inch or so onto the main tile (the grout did look clean!) The continental breakfast was generous, with ample choices including decent muffins and bagels with cream cheese, waffles, and hard-boiled eggs in addition to the usual assortment of cereals and pastries, and a dispenser of actual orange juice. (though not fresh-squeezed). A good choice for this price.

“Great place but not for everyone”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

First and most importantly, this hotel was very clean. It also had great extras like free internet, free breakfast, free USA Today, microwave and fridge in the rooms, HBO. These are pretty important things for me when I consider where to stay and the Days Inn checked all the boxes. So why did I say it's not for everyone? To put it in a way my teenagers would understand - it is very "old school". Rooms are small, TV is not flat screen, one queen bed instead of a King, and most importantly the room all open to the outside and you park in front of the room. As a woman who travels A LOT on business, mostly alone, I would not have stayed here because of this. Traveling with my husband, this was not a problem. And I don't want to imply that it is not safe - because I did feel safe. But I think this is an important consideration because I expected that it would be a more typical hotel with the rooms opening on to a corridor and an entrance that is monitored. Would I stay here again with my husband? Sure - front desk was friendly, room was clean with lots of extras - and for most people this is the most important part of any hotel stay.

“OK for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

A Wyndham promotion attracted me to this Days Inn, and the price was right. The room was nice but not fancy and included a fridge and microwave. There were some hairs and old soap in the tub and the control for the shower was broken making it difficult to control the temperature and pressure. The doors to the rooms open to the parking lot and you have to walk outside (in the rain) to get to the breakfast room. The coffee was good and hot, the food OK but there was no cold cereal. The desk staff is friendly and accomodating. Close to the highay but not a lot of road noise. Pretty easy to get in and out. Close to restaurants and shopping.

“Well-located and Presentable Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We stayed for two nights in August 2011 and found this motel clean, comfortable and well-presented. It is located on the main Dupont Highway which bypasses Dover, close to Dover Mall and other stores and restaurants. It's not quite accurate to describe the location as "downtown", as it's at least 20 minutes' walk to the Dover Green Historic District and State House. However, the walk is pleasant and we came back via Silver Lake Park, which is literally at the back of the motel.
