We stayed at this hotel on May 11 and 12, because I had a professional district meeting at the hotel and decided to stay an extra night, since it was Mothers Day Weekend. This hotel is located next door to Terminal A departure area. I was traveling with my wife and my in-laws. My father in-law just turn 90 and my mother in-law is 92. There were a total of six of us, and all of us were 65 or older. The bell men were very courteous and attentive and came out to help us, although we could manage just fine. They offered wheel chairs for both my father in-law and mother in-law, but they declined. Inside the front desk personnel were very courteous and welcoming. I requested king rooms close to each other, and they gave me three rooms that were side by side, two were adjoining each other, overlooking the tarmac of Bradley International Airport. We could see all takeoffs and landings from both operating runways. There was absolutely no noise in the rooms from the jet engines although regional jets, 737 and other mid size planes were landing, but not frequently. In the mornings we opened the curtains and were up at 5:30 a.m. to see the spectacular sun rise over the mountains from the windows.
I forgot to request a refrigerator for the room and a board to make the bed more rigid for my bad back and when I called the front desk they were quick to get both items up to my room. I went downstairs to thank the front desk personnel and I met the Ms Colleen Burgher, the director of front desk operations. I told her how pleased I was with the prompt service I had received and she told me that they are all well trained to help their guests with every request. I asked her to update my Starwood reward points, but I did not know my account number. She quickly found my account and made the updates.
The three rooms that we had were very comfortable and very clean. The furniture appear to be relatively new, including the TV. Besides the king bed, the room comes with a very comfortable wing back chair with a foot rest, a dresser with drawers that were below the TV and a desk and chair. The bed, the pillows and the comforter were very inviting and all six of us slept very well.
The bathroom had a standard sink, shower and commode, and the bath floors had slip resistant tiles with friction grooves built into them. The hallways on the floors appear to have received new bright carpeting that enhances the appearance and the overall ambiance. Parking is free, if you are a guest at the hotel, but you must get the ticket validated by the front desk personnel each time you leave and return to the underground parking area. The restaurant offered a $15.95 buffet breakfast, but my in-laws did not feel that it was worth the price they paid. On Sunday morning we had breakfast at Friendlies, Restaurant, which is located right outside of the airport gates on Route 75. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The price we paid for the rooms was a negotiated rate, since we had a group staying at the hotel, therefore, we feel that we received very good value for the money.
