Stayed at this hotel in December. Close to highway with ample, free parking. Prompt check-in and friendly staff. Upgraded room type because I was a Priority Club Platinum Member. Room clean and well kept. Didn't eat breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Did not use internet so I cannot comment on that. Hotel had coffee and cookies available in evening hours. Overall, not a bad stay and I would stay here again.

The hotel is a little dated -- dark carpet in hallways and wallpaper that has seen better days. You can tell it was a Holiday Inn Express before the brand upgraded, but overall dark carpet and old wallpaper would not stop me from returning to the hotel.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on November 30, 2011. Arrived around 5:00pm (dark). The manager Pat (the young one) greeted us to the area. What impressed me was his crisp, clean, tailored white shirt. I'm thinking, perhaps by chance or by design, that the rooms will look as perfect. Needless to say, the room was as clean and tidy as he was. Thank you! The breakfast was actually pretty good. Basic simple foods. Toast, coffee, yogurt, fruit. All in great shape and fresh looking. The morning staff was very friendly. The local mall/grocery store was across the street. Very clean, friendly people (polite children, smiling faces, very diverse culture). Overall a great rest stop after a long day of driving.

If you're familiar with Holiday Inn Expresses, you will be happy with this one. Clean and comfortable rooms. Decent breakfast. Fantastic showers.

The location was a very convenient spot. The room over all was ok but late that night while sitting at the desk using our computer (next to the ac/heater unit) I noticed how filthy the ac/heat unit was. If my wife had not already been asleep I would have insisted on a different room. The outside of the unit was covered in thick dust/dirt. While looking closer at the unit I could see a big buildup of dust/dirt and what appeared to be a moldy sunflower seed. Never before have I ever seen anything like this.
The desk clerk’s actions should have tipped me off when we checked in. We had to wait for him to come back inside while he finished his cigarette (heard the door close behind him). When we asked him about any place near by to eat, he said he could only recommend the Italian place next door - anything else was over a half hour away. Finding that hard to believe, I checked the GPS for restaurants nearby. Found a bunch that were closer than a half hour drive. Even a great diner (Vernon Diner) only a couple minutes away (less that 2 miles). As we headed towards the diner, we could only see three cars in the parking lot of the Italian place next door - not a good sign when it is 6:10 PM.

The breakfast was the typical HI Express - ok, but nothing fancy. If you want fancy breakfast with a boat load of choices, go to a high-end breakfast place. Will we use a HI Express again - yes, but not this one.

Would I recommend this particular hotel? Only as a last resort and only if you first check out the room very carefully. Do I think they will do anything about the dirty and moldy junk in the ac/heater unit - not really. After sending some of the pictures to the manager, I received an e-mail say thanks for the pictures and that they will replace or deep-clean the unit. In addition to that he needs to address the preventative inspection and cleaning schedule in more detail. Not even a sorry for the filthy ac/heater unit filling the room air with who knows what.
