We'd been driving all day and checked in a couple hours prior to the business engagement that brought us to the area. If were weren't so tired from driving and were going to be around any longer than sleeping and working, we would have asked to have our room changed, but we chose to leave well enough alone, as we guessed any substitution would probably be pretty much the same, based on our complaints with our room.
That said... upon first glance, the room seemed alright-updated furnishings, newer carpeting (but like I always notice, not so new that the chemicals from it are still being released, causing our eyes to itch and make us sneeze for the next couple days), etc.
When I went to the bathroom I noticed there was something splattered on the door and door frame. I'm going to assume it was coffee. A trick a friend of mine once told me was when you don't have time to clean your house before company, just clean the spots they will see-like where they will look when they're sitting on the toilet. The housecleaning staff would do well to follow that advice. I saw a piece of plastic or rubber on the floor beaneath the sink, as well as a spider in a web (a little daddy longlegs-type so I wasn't too bothered by it, albeit a little turned off, after seeing the splatters and the other trash on the floor). When I went to wash my hands afterward, I noticed that the water faucet wasn't positioned in the hole of the countertop correctly. It was crooked, and the hole was half exposed. I tried to position the faucet correctly so it wasn't facing the side of the sink but had no luck. I mentioned it to my husband, but as I said, there was little time before having to leave for work and moving all of our stuff wasn't an option.
When I went into the room to lay my purse and laptop bag on the bed, there was a big whitish spot on the bedspread. I did NOT touch it to see if it was a stain or if something had squirted on the bedspread and had not been washed off. We immediately took the bedspread off the bed. The rest of the bedding seemed fine, although the next morning, my husband found a hair in the sheets that was way longer than either of ours. (That could probably have come from anywhere, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt on that one.)
When I went to plug in my phone charger by the bed, the plug adapter thing that sticks out from the outlet was covered in that thick, kinda greasy dust, which was pretty gross. Also, the night stand by the bed looked like someone had put a greasy pizza box on it, then no one ever wiped it off.
The heater always seemed too hot no matter what the temperature was set at (anywhere from 65-72) so we turned it off and only turned it on to take the chill off when we got up in the morning.
The bed was comfortable, and it's always nice to find a mini fridge and a microwave in the room. I'm not sure how the service is because we just checked in, left for work, came back, slept, showered, and left. I'm sure if we had asked, they would have offered another room, but I'm not sure the room would have been much better.
It's by far not the worst place I've ever stayed, but I wouldn't put it on my list of places to stay if I find myself back in the area. It was fine for a place to sleep and shower, but come to think of it, the shower rod looked like it was about to fall out of the wall and the shower had a funky smell.
