“Not so hot”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011 via mobile

Stuck here for two long nights after freak halloween snowstorm took out our heat and electric...only place with rooms and that quickly becomes obvious. Austere is being kind...minimalist is another...Spartan even. No bells...and no hot water! Smelled like chlorox. Free breakfast in a windowlesss interior room was depressing. The third nite we opted to go home and build a fire.
If you ever have a choice...go with the alternative.

“It's about time to renovate this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The staff is quite friendly and helpful. That makes up a lot for the rest. BUT... there is 2 flight of stairs you have to pass w/your luggage before reahcing the elevator -why can't they have a ramp? And the elevator, oh boy, sometimes you're not sure if the thing will make it or not, or if you'll end up trapped inside. In my case I was on the 7th floor, so just imagine, I had to use it. Now, the rooms. At least in my case, the door had a 2-3 inches space between its botto9m and the floor, so in came all the noise from people talking outside, and the smell of cigarrettes. Any time. The breakfast place looks pretty hostile, like some kind of shelter food place... mold in the bathroom, old yellowish towels...In general, what I think is that they must renovate this place so it doesn't look like a B cops kind of movie. Nothing happened, but you just don't feel safe. What comes through the eyes has a heavy weight on your overal perception. Again, they're nice people, but, next time I prefer to stay at a more expensive place and feel more comfortable.

“Stay Away!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

My project manager who is working in Wilton, CT, called me this morning to report bed bugs. He complained to the front desk with the bed bug he caught and all they did was move him to another room and bagged the bug. During his stay since Oct 12, he has been locked out of his room several times due to maintenance wiping out the electronic entry and several times had no internet connection to send daily reports.

“Bad Stay, Left early!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

O where to begin. first when we checked in we noticed the pool was empty. This was very unfortunate due to the fact we where looking foward to that. I feel they should post something on the website if the pool is out of order, or at least tell you when you reserve the room! To much to ask I guess! Next we noticed a microwave just sitting on the floor, not pluged in just sitting there. Really???? The fridge didnt work, and there was no vending on our floor even though there where signs that lead you to a empy area, Really?? No one seemed to concerned of what we had found. We reported everything and went out several times, still no one addressed the issues. The tub was dirty and had hair's in it. Alot of these things could have been taken care of with just a little pride in your work. I guess that's just something that is missing at this hotel. And last when you sit on the bed and the other side raises a good 6-8 inches off, its time to replace. We had planned on three nights, but checked out after the first. Never again!!!!

“go elsewhare”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

I had to make last minute plans and other hotels were out of the less expensive non-smoking rooms. So i decided to give this place in the bad end of town a chance. It is in a place where security is a problem and they keep the front door locked most of the night they have to buzz you in. The character of the place is defined by a bad paint job and a few areas of peeling paint. Obviously run down and just adequate to not have visitors walk out when they see the rooms. The service is poor without cleaning lady leaving 3 small towels and one big towel for my wife and i on the third day. We used up the 4 paper cups provided each of the first two days so she left none on the 3rd day. TV cable was hit and miss with clear pictures on most channels and nothing on others. Our air unit reset itself to freezing cold while we were out 2x. We went downstairs to use the gym and found a TV but no controller or towels in the towel rack. Ice is available on only the even numbered floors and there is no information on services or where to find them in the rooms. The room itself was small with a little peeling paint in the very tiny bathroom. Only warm water in the sink and a toilet that required tinkering with the handle each time that you wanted to hear it stop running. Only one computer in the lobby for visitors to use and it was always busy by persons who did not appear to be normal hotel guests. Maybe the hotel has some long term residents or workers using it? Staff was adequately helpful but after searching for the ice over the entire 5th and 1st floors how helpful it is when staff finally gets asked where it is and then you have to walk another 10 minutes to get it? I stuck my hand it the indoor pool and found it cold and as others have mentioned the outdoor pool is covered in the off season. There is no Jacuzzi and no fridge in the room that we used. Traffic noise is significant but not unbearable for the half of the building that faces the interstate. I have visited at the hotel that is the next step up in cost in Stamford and for another $10 it makes a huge difference. I don't know why upstate CT is more pricey than upstate NY. If you can’t afford the extra cost i would go to another city and prices drop overall. As a frequent traveler i have to say that this is not the worst ever and it was just many little annoyances everywhere you turn that got this place a rating of one from me....

Room Tip: pick a room on the even numbered floors if you want vending or ice. pick a room not on the highway s...
