“Çonvenient access to I95, Stamford and Greenwich; Nicely renovated with fresh carpet and wall coverings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed her for several nights recently. Was a short drive off I95. The hotel is in an 'OK' area, not scenic or someplace you would want to take a long evening stroll, but seemed reasonable. Parking is in an attached garage.

The front desk was friendly and fast. As indicated in the review title, while not a new property, the place was nicely refreshed. There was some maintenance issues in the room, loose faucet, removed broken mirror and not replaced.... but the room was clean and comfortable. There as a mini fridge and microwave in the room, always a plus.

The free breakfast was the standard Hampton fare, but also kept fresh and hot. The breakfast area was bright and sunny.

I would stay here again on business in the area.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your stay. While I’m thrilled to hear our staff was friendly, I regret that the hotel room had a maintenance problem. We apologize for any inconveniences you experienced but are happy to know you will be returning.

“Good stay during Christmas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We visit Stamford regularly (> 30 years) due to relatives there. Previous years we had stayed multiple times at: Greenwich Hyatt, Stamford Sheraton (now the Stamford Plaza Hotel), & Westin Stamford (now Hilton). This was our 1st stay at the Hampton Inn & we were very impressed: clean, quiet, large suite, excellent self-serve breakfast, & consistently good service throughout (Front Desk, buffet staff, Housekeeping). The neighborhood was quiet & seemed safe, I know there were a few other reviews said the area could be a bit "sketchy" which we did not find any problem with. Hotel interior was elegant, well decorated, and the Business Ctr was conveniently located at the lobby and inside was well equipped.

I want to add a few specific comments:
1. Our Suite (226) was directly above the on-site Indian restaurant, which was closed.
Otherwise there could be noise issues, as noted by another reviews.
2. I really wanted a 1BR suite, but perhaps due to online booking confusion, it was booked as a King Studio Suite.
At check-in, I asked for a 1BR suite, but Front Desk staff said there aren't 1BRs in the hotel!
Eventually before we checked out, I asked (again) about 1BR suite and different staff
did say these were available.
We hope to get 1BR for future stays at this excellent property.

“Not your typical Hampton Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

My husband and I stayed on our way to Florida, the location is not too far off the course, but the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. The staff were polite, kind of, but I felt that there was a big language barrier because they are mostly Indian. The room was clean, and nicely furnished, but unfortunately I left a pair of shoes behind by mistake, and it was a month of probably 15 calls to get them sent, there again a language barrier. But they did come eventually but was charged 81.00! after being told it wouldn't be over 20--after another 4-5 calls, which they didn't return, I did get my credit card to credit me 61.00. Was it a horrible experience? No, but I will not return. But having said that I do love Hampton Inns.

“Quite Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

When I checked in, the clerk did so using only my name and not reservation number (which I had made online and had with me.) He checked me in as a different person with the same name but with a different reservation number and for only 1 night instead of two. I did not realize this until the bill arrived the next morning.

At the front desk trying to correct this error, despite spelling out my correct address, it was entered incorrectly. I was billed for the two nights separately. Moreover, in reviewing my Credit Card statement, I was overcharged by $5.71 for the first night. I'm guessing that the AAA discount was not applied. I can't confirm this as I did not receive a corrected itemized bill (even though I requested one.)

Used the complementary shuttle to the railroad station for a day trip to New York City. Shuttle driver was friendly. However, hours of operation (last pickup time) was not clearly indicated on the sign in the lobby. Was instructed to call ahead to the hotel with my arrival time and driver would meet us at the station. I did so about an hour and a half before my scheduled arrival. When we arrived, there was no shuttle. A call to the hotel revealed that the receptionist forgot to ask the shuttle driver to pick us up. The driver did apologize upon his arrival.

That evening, the TV did not work properly - most channels were fuzzy. It was fine the night before and the next morning.

After breakfast, we returned to our room to pack up and check out - only to find that both of they keys had been deactivated resulting in a trek back to the lobby to fix this issue.

Finally, the email requesting a customer satisfaction survey was directed to "Donald Lequire" - which is not even close to my real name, or the name of the person who was on the errant receipt.

“Excellent Value and pleasant staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Free Wifi, Free Hot Breakfast, Free Car Parking, Very clean and spacious family room and an excellent restaurant....what more could you ask for? Would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area. We had two children aged 11 and 8 and our double queen room was plenty big enough. We stayed one night on Dec 17th and moved on to Manhattan where we paid 4 x the price and got none of the above.
