“Good, not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Was at a meeting here again and the food is very good. The hot tub was never hot. Beds are nice. The breakfast was a bit better than my last visit, but it is still basically a dessert tray and juice. The staff was a bit friendlier than last time, but they definitely do not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It is probably overpriced for what you get.

“Lots of character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I have stayed at the Simsbury Inn on two occasions - both for business purposes. Each time, I have been very impressed with the staff. I've never had a discourteous encounter with anyone, and everyone has been more than helpful in providing directions or even recommendations on places to eat (go to Metro Bis... fantastic food!). In any event, the Inn is a little dated, but it has lots of charm. The bed is a canopy - which one of my princess fantasies growing up was to have a big canopy bed with gauzy coverings. There was a flat screen TV in the room, as well as a small refrigerator in the bathroom (which is an odd location). If there was one complaint, it would be that the room has a very limited number of outlets to plug your phone or other electronics. I loved the fact that it has free wi-fi, and it appeared to be very quiet. I could not hear my neighbors at all. One of the best things about the place, however, was the breakfast in the morning in the restaurant. Not only was it reasonably priced, but it was very good. I'm pretty picky about how places cook bacon (I hate it when it's greasy and not crisp) but this was done perfectly. The server was also incredibly friendly and quick. And, last but not least, the Inn has a shuttle which will take you where you need to go. All in all, it was a great visit, and I can't wait to stay again.

“A nice place to stay in Simsbury”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

The Simsbury Inn is charming and conveniently located if your travels take you to the Farmington Valley area. The staff is efficient and the decor is charming, although the rooms are showing some signs of wear and could use a refresh (older fixtures in the bathroom, chips on furniture, some worn upholstery). Evergreens restaurant is a nice option for dinner and the Sunday brunch is great.

“Poor Hospitality”

I was here for an event that same weekend and couldn’t be more
disappointed on how the staff treated my family and friends who stayed
here. Fabtravel 7 are you receiving a paycheck for your review because
if we are being honest about the staff of that weekend why aren’t we
stating the obvious? THE FRONT DESK STAFF MAKES YOUR LOCAL DMV
EMPLOYEES LOOK CHARMING. Keith you turned out to be a trooper but
word of advice next time when an expensive jacket goes missing under
your hotels coat check, an apology at any point during the
conversation might help defuse the situation. Danielle, although we
were paying to be there, and you were being paid to be there, we tried
to give you the benefit of the doubt for your attitude, being that it
seemed you were working long hours that weekend. However when you
decide to talk ill about a hotel guest, make sure no other hotel
guests are in ear and eye shot, because they just may be related. I am
very thankful for a few of the staff members not working the front
desk. They seem to be the only ones I encountered who understood the
concept of a wedding is a special day for the bride/groom and their
family and friends. The event coordinator, very pleasant woman and
awesome job, and Maria who served the wedding party during cocktail
hour, and the 2nd female server (I apologize, I never got your name)
did a fantastic job making sure the bride and groom requests were
being met. There is a silver lining to this whole experience. With
being recently engaged, I am in the processes of looking at venues,
and without question Simsbury Inn has been removed from my list of
places.

“New England hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

The entryway was a setting out of a Christmas card--roaring fireplace, elegant Christmas tree and halls decked, complimentary hot chocolate, coffee, tea and cakes.
It was a very welcoming introduction to the Inn. Our room on the second floor was spotless, very quiet,a little small. The bed though firm was very large and well appointed.Although there were several events going on over the weekend the staff was so efficient and pleasant you would never have guessed it. We were attending a wedding at the Riverview and were provided with free shuttle service. The next morning breakfast [ egg white omelet] at the Nutmeg was excellent. Look forward to coming back.
