I have stayed at the Homestead in Shelton multiple times for stays up to 5 days. The hotel rooms need a deep cleaning. I always end up in a room that has pet hair. The beds are the WORST beds I have slept on. Wireless internet is available at a price and is unreliable. I often tether my laptop to my PDA.

Staying for a couple of days while our new home becomes ready. Chose Homestead because it accepts pets and was reasonably priced. $112 per night for a Studio room, 2 queen size beds and a kitchen area, good sized bathroom.

The beds are the WORST of any hotel I have ever stayed at. Hard, uncomfortable and swayed toward the middle (both beds in our room). Each day we saw mattresses at the dumpster, so perhaps they are changing them out...they need to.

The place itself is pretty shabby at the edges. While it is techically clean, the carpets in the hallways are stained, and the place is just kind of dingy...it won't be a long fall to seedy if the owners don't deep clean the place. Carpets in our room seemed dirty as well.

The toilet paper holder fell apart on first use. The burner on the stove did not work...when attempting to get this fixed, I was advised I would have to wait until Friday because the maintenance guy does not work on Thurs. I fixed it myself. I don't understand a hotel that does not have maintenance 7 days per week...guests should not be shortchanged because the owners are too cheap.

On the plus side, the staff could not have been nicer...I mean it, really great.

Would I stay here again? Yes, if I needed an affordable place that took pets. It is certainly not the worst I've stayed in, but it could be a little better.

This hotel was dissapointing for a Fairfield County hotel. Mind you we stayed here because of a power outage in our own town, so we were happy to have a place with electricity, but it was absolutely not worth the money...
The room was bare minimum-had a decent size kitchen with appliances, but the dishes in the cabinet were dirty.
The bathroom had absolutely no amenities-one small bar of soap-not even shampoo.
The air conditioning unit was so loud that you had to constantly raise and lower the volume on the TV every time it went on and off. It kept us up all night-the alternate choice was to swelter.
We paid for WiFi, but te service wasn't working.
At 8 pm, there was literally one person working in the entire hotel...the poor girl there couldn't handle everthing going on, and despite her manager being on the phone and knowing the situation, nobody was sent to help her.
The hallway floors were dirty and there were broken appliances in the hallways.
Housekeeping service is not provided since it is considered an extended stay hotel-so I ask...what did I pay $140 for? Stay at one of the many other choices on the same street in town-we checked out the next day and went to Hotel Siera.

I stayed here during Yale University graduation weekend. I had put a lot of time into finding a pleasant and cost effective location. I booked December 1st 2010 after spending 1-hour online researching and deselecting properties based on their reviews here.

I had one of the handicapped rooms, so it was probably larger then most. The property and room was clean and well kept. The reception desk staff was very friendly and helpful. No food onsite; however, a nice diner and other places to eat a short drive down the road.

I'd certainly stay here again for something clean and functional if I had business in the area.
