“Just what we had hoped for !!”

What a pleasant stay we experienced on New Years eve... it was just what we were hoping it would be... peaceful...( I know, not your usual desire for New Years Eve..).. however we wanted to relax, finally, after a busy holiday week and we most certainly did.
The Old Riverton Inn is oh yes, old... filled with antiques, uneven floors, situated in a setting that reminds one of the olden days with the River close by, the old Hitchcock Factory right across the bridge...( sadly it has closed).
The Innkeepers were wonderful and welcoming and made us feel right at home.
The food, the service were fantastic... I mean it... and what a treat for us given we are used to less than attentive service while dining in our hometown area.
The Inn settled down after the last dinner seating was done... quiet, peaceful night, comfy bed., warm quilts, soft pillows.. heaven !!
Next morning we walked downstairs to a full breakfast, again, delicious and the owner gave us some town history and renditions of the good old days, the heydays, in Riverton.
Alas !! We forgot to pack our extra pillows... no problem... I called the Inn and they left them packed in plastic bags for our return trip to retrieve them... and we got to experience another snowy, country drive back there.
Thank you for a perfect overnight !!

“Romantic, quaint, peaceful long weekend in a country setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

Spent 5 days and 4 nights and the beautiful inn! My husband and I were there for a flyfishing trip and he had found this little inn on the fly fishing website he was checking out! What a great little place this is! You feel as if you have known the owners your whole life from the minute you check in to this fabulous inn! They were attentive to us from the moment we arrived - quick to have everything set up prior to our arrival! All my husband did was sign when we checked in! We brought our bags up to our room ourselves (we were offered help by owner - we declined). Our room was upstairs - lovely! We had our own bathroom. Room was spacious and intimately decorated with many antiques! We felt at home when we walked into the room! Very clean, and kept that way every day! Linens are of top quality as well. Bed is more than comfortable! We dined downstairs the first evening as they are only open friday, saturday evenings and sunday afternoon. Our dinner was fabulous! Very gourmet! Next am (the proprieters had asked us what time we wanted breakfast when we had checked in) we went down to the dining room at 8am as we had requested, and our table was set with fresh flowers as well as fresh squeezed orange juice! Even breakfast was delicous! Could taste the fresh herbs even in the omelette I enjoyed ! Fresh bread aroma is always in the air!! A lovely getaway, that is a short 2 1/2 hour distance for us. We will be back here for sure! Was great that we could mix romance with our fly fishing weekend!

“A pleasant country Inn !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

I only stayed for one night but the friendly welcome from the owner is appreciated and by the looks of things the Restaurant looks worth a visit..sadly I couldnt avail myself of their food but it all sounded very appetizing !

My room was slightly rickety but charming and adequately furnished and equiped.

For an Englishman who enjoys a good hearty breakfast , the meal was, for my money a bit of a disappointment.

It is a charming place.go there if you need a country break !

“Wedding Bells”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2007

Since the first time my girlfriend and I visited this wonderful inn, we loved it. The restaurant serves the tastiest meals, (I liked the duck a lot) and the rooms are comfortable and quaint. The innkeepers were friendly and accomodating, so much so, that we will be having our wedding there next fall.
