“A pleasant country Inn !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

I only stayed for one night but the friendly welcome from the owner is appreciated and by the looks of things the Restaurant looks worth a visit..sadly I couldnt avail myself of their food but it all sounded very appetizing !

My room was slightly rickety but charming and adequately furnished and equiped.

For an Englishman who enjoys a good hearty breakfast , the meal was, for my money a bit of a disappointment.

It is a charming place.go there if you need a country break !

“Wedding Bells”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2007

Since the first time my girlfriend and I visited this wonderful inn, we loved it. The restaurant serves the tastiest meals, (I liked the duck a lot) and the rooms are comfortable and quaint. The innkeepers were friendly and accomodating, so much so, that we will be having our wedding there next fall.

“Great Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2006

My wife and I have been taking a yearly trip to the Old Riverton Inn for about the last 10 years. The Inn is over 200 years old, and is a very interesting place – we just love staying there. It’s a wonderful place to visit in the autumn, the foliage is amazing! We also like to go in the spring for fishing and kayaking on the lovely Farmington River. People’s State Forrest is another great thing about the area; there are many hiking trails and wonderful scenic Berkshire views! Riverton is the quaint kind of New England village that you just can’t find elsewhere these days – with a General Store, and an assortment of quaint shops. If you’re looking for a nice long weekend of R&R, this is the place to go!

“Classic working New England Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2006

We wanted to stay at an authentic New England Inn and the Old Riverton Inn is exactly that. Some of the details go back to the 1790's and there is a story about every part of the Inn. An added plus is that most of the furniture is from the Hitchcock mill that was situated for many years in Riverton.
Food was great but do some checking on which nights the dining room is open and plan your trip to include at least one of the evening meals. Breakfast was served with a smile every morning.
We also did some trout fishing on the west branch of the Farmington River which is by far the best in this part of New England and includes a catch and release area.
We plan on returning for Fall foliage.

The inn was a bit creaky, but quaint and comfortable. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to relax after a day of fishing on the nearby river. We had been looking for a quiet, unpretentioius spot and found it at the Old Riverton Inn.
