“Very poor service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I reserved a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room. I went to the front desk to ask for a new room and was treated very rudely by the man working there. He told me there were no other rooms available and tried to convince me that I had non-smoking room (despite the ash trays in the room, the smokey smell, and the fact that it said smoking on the door!) He quickly escalated the conversation to a fight and told me there was nothing he could do. If I had any other place to stay I would have left.

The room itself was smokey but relatively clean.
Overall, this was probably the worst customer service I've experienced at a hotel.

“Liars and cheats”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

We booked on a Wednesday and canceled 45 minutes later, because we found a nicer sounding place for the Saturday. They charged us for the night! When I called to complain, the female manager out and out lied saying we had never canceled. I suggested it might be good customer relations to refund us the money, so we'd be inclined to stay there another time. She said no. I'm going to dispute the charge w/ mastercard and hope this review joins the list of lousy reviews above it...

“I guess I got lucky... I didn't stay there.”

I booked a room at the Executive Inn solely on the basis of their website, which advertises "free wireless internet in every room." I checked in, and was given room 109. I asked if I needed a password for the wireless, and was told that the signal "doesn't reach that far". The room was only halfway down the building from the office, which means that truly half of the hotel has no internet, despite the advertising. I asked to have my credit card refunded (which was done) and stayed down the street at Days Inn for $100 more. After reading the other reviews here, I realize it was worth it. Live and learn.

“Roaches, dirty, understaffed, gross, distgusting, overpriced!”

We we in a wedding on July 18th at the Saybrook Point Inn and Spa. What a beautiful hotel. We stayed at the Executive Inn and Suites as we booked too late and the Inn was full...OMG, what a DUMP!!!! When we first arrived, we noticed that it was really warm out and they had the pool closed...the "pool house" had been converted into two more rooms. There was a ROACH in the bathroom and it smelled like moldy, musty poo. We went to the front desk (a room with a counter) and the guy says, "What do you want?" I tell him that the room has roaches and he says, "Let me show you another room." (Why wasn't he upset that there was a ROACH in the room?!?) The next room didn't have a bug in it but it was equally disgusting. There was a wooden toilet seat (wood seat = GERMS) that was broken and he had attitude when I told him I wanted my money back. Needless to say, he wouldn't give us our money back...he put us in the room that he OBVIOUSLY keeps clean so that he can show that ONE if someone wants to look at them before they commit. Rude, hateful and ignorant doesn't even begin to describe this guy. My husband and I were so disgusted that we went to Walmart around the block and bought new towels to use and hard surface sanitizer to spray on the sink, toilet, floors and shower. Please don't stay there. It horrible.

“Disgusting!!! Be Aware!!!!”

By far in Old Saybrook, this is the worst hotel, i mean MOTEL, ever. It doesn't even have a proper desk employee, there was a very young little boy walking in and out, I believe, going to ask his mother questions. Isn't this called child labour, anyways, the rooms are horrible. I woke up with red bumps on my back everything from bed bugs, I literally had to leave the place very next day when i payed for a whole week. I do not recomment this hotel to anyone, espically elderly. I seriously don't know why this motel is still open in Old Saybrook, i was thinking about calling the health department to check if it even meets the minimum requirements, considering it has quite alot of bed bugs.
