We stayed a couple years ago, but I just wanted to add my two cents, since there are not a lot of reviews here to go by.

My family and I like to travel to CT from NYC and stay overnight on weekends when we have the opportunity to get away. We tried Harbor House because it seemed nice, it was near Old Greenwich beach, and--given the high price, we assumed it must be fairly nice.

The place just seemed cheap. The door to our room, and the hardware in the bathroom, looked like they came from a Home Depot. Furniture was old (not old as in "nice antique," old as in "picked this table up at a yard sale" old).

The continental breakfast was cereal.

I'd rate it terrible if not for the fact that it's location was, in fact, a plus. But you don't have to stay here to go to OG beach (which is terrific for small kids, especially when the tide goes out).

Why the owners don't sell this great old (but worn down) house for $5 mil and get out of the business is beyond me.

From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was home.The smell of freshly baked cookies filled the lobby! This place is simply wonderful, so cozy and elegant, Wonderful clean rooms with down comforters and duvets! My bathroom was so clean it sparkled! I took an early morning stroll to the beach, just a short walk from the inn.

I don't recommend this place at all. I don't think Ms. Stuttig really understands customer service. Next time I am in Old Greenwich I will certainly stay elsewhere.

I booked a room in Harbor House Inn for my grandparents, who were coming for a visit and specified, when making the reservation, that I'm only going to book a room , if they stay on the first floor because of their difficulties going up the stairs. I was actually shown the room and reassured that would be no problem.When they checked in they were given a key to the room on the 3rd floor {there is no elevator}. When we asked the owner why is that when we made it clear they can't go up the stairs, we were told that all of their guests are currently on the 2nd and 3rd floor and it would be too expensive to turn the heat on on the first floor just for 1 room. It was already late and so my grandparents stayed even though their room on the 3rd floor was cold as well. Another surprise came in the morning when my grandparents came down for a rich continental breakfast as was advertised. All they found was a bad coffee, Juice, cereal and brown bananas. The owners- Mrs.
Stuttig and her daughter were not helpful at all, obviously more concerned about their income rather them the satisfaction of thier guests.I do not recommend this place.
