“Beware. Currently not worth the rate. Restaurant's Not OPEN! I wouldn't stay if I were you.”
The Inn is indeed cute and aesthetically much preferable to a chain hotel in my opinion. This place could be awesome. However, beware of the following things that I encountered:
First, the restaurant is not open, so if you're planning on having dinner on site while staying or having breakfast or brunch on site it won't happen (and you won't be warned of such by the innkeeper and the website suggests that all is up an running). Also the 'continental breakfast' is really just boxes of cereal and cinnamon rolls that, despite what the website says, aren't very good and don't seem fresh. I could have come up with something better in my own kitchen on a day when groceries were running low - it kind of felt like that - let's see what hanging around that we need to get rid of...
We were warned in a letter on arrival that the breakfast was to be served between 7 and 8 - a narrow window of opportunity! It all seems designed to get you out as soon as possible - if the narrow breakfast hours don't work the maid cleaning right outside your door and hovering around at 9:15 will. You may be allowed to check out at 11, but the preference is by 9. The restaurant is the coolest thing about the Inn, so it's no wonder why they aren't advertising on the website that it's not open - I felt very mislead.
Also beware - check-in between 3 and 6! I was planning to arrive before 6, but hit traffic I couldn't answer my phone when the innkeeper called as I was driving. He left a message at 5:45 stating "I need to know if you're still planning on staying. If I hear back that you are I will make arrangements for your arrival. I'll be here until 6." - I called back as soon as I could - at 6:15 and no one answered and there was no alternate number given. I left a message and received no response. I didn't know if we had a place to stay or not. I actually left a show (my entire reason for visiting the area) because I felt I needed to determine if we'd needed to find another place to stay for the evening. He did, indeed, leave the key and instructions out for me, but I had no idea until I arrived and missed a good bit of the show due to the lack of communication and misleading voicemail. It was actually a bit of a trip ruining experience - things recovered, but I will attribute the experience with this Inn as a low point in my trip and actually in all of my trips of 2010. I would be irritated and disappointed even with a $70 rate, but for a place that is $180, it's totally not acceptable.
The Inn is cool, but it isn't as clean as it should be as others have mentioned and it just all around seems like perhaps it's on its last legs with this owner - it has the same vibe as an abandoned teddy bear that was once loved by someone sitting in an antique shop. Adorable and sad and just kind of depressing... and $180 bucks.
If you're a light sleeper you'll want to bring a noise machine as the place is super noisy - you can hear every step someone makes. The Inn also isn't as well situated as the website suggests - it's actually in a residential neighborhood, smashed between fairly modern houses and on a busy residential street. It's off the beaten path, but not in a good way. The neighbors seem annoyed by it's existence and the odd oversized banner out front. Overall it's lamesville. I wish I had my money back, so I advise not wasting yours.

The Silvermine Tavern has been in business since 1929 in historic buildings that are up to 200 years old. Our restaurant has been closed since February 2009 while the inn remains open. In our confirmation materials, we offer to help with dinner reservations at many fine local restaurants.
The continental breakfast is available from 7:00 to 10:30 and features the Famous Silvermine Tavern Honey Buns or other fresh baked items as well as homemade cranberry granola, fresh seasonal fruit, juices, yogurt, English muffins, and yes, some favorite boxed cereals. Most guests find it more than satisfying.
We hope to be available to greet all our guests, but for arrival after 6:00 PM or when arrival plans are uncertain, arrangements can be made to leave a key. This is explained during confirmation. When this reservation came in with an expected arrival time of 6:00, I thought a delay was possible and e-mailed an offer to make arrangements for the key. There was no response.
The room rate was $150.00 ($168 with the tax), not 180.00
The Tavern is an older post and beam building with thick plaster walls. Most guests comment on how quite the rooms are. Certainly housekeepers can make some noise, but this is the first time anyone has said they were awakened by the cleaners.
One of the best parts of inn keeping is to meet and get to know the guests. Although I was at the Inn when these guests departed and they said good bye, there was no effort to discuss their issues in person or engage in any talk of the problems they experienced. It’s too bad, I would have welcomed a chance to get to know them and understand their concerns.
