“Lovely New England Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Please do not hesitate in considering this charming Inn for a stay in New Milford. It is warm, welcoming & cozy. My very first stay at Homestead was by sheer chance. After making a very detailed reservation at another establishment in town and arriving to find they had no record of my reservation and were full, my husband I were homeless for the night. We happened upon this lovely Inn and were warmly welcomed by Bill.
Having friends in the suburban section of New Milford, we had no idea what a lovely New England town this was. Now that we know, we make it a point to stay overnight for every visit. We no longer dread the long ride back after our visits and have even gone so far as to invite ourselves for New Years day 2012 just to spend the night at the Inn.
I consider myself to be very particular when it comes to overnight accommodations. I have borderline excessive tendencies when it comes to research. In this case, however a chance impromptu stay has turned into a regular destination.
A warm welcome, comfy bed, and hearty breakfast await you. The picturesque historical surroundings are the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: Room 125 overlooks the green.

“Quaint Connecticut”

Tiny, tiny bathroom, No AC, quaint New England decor rooms, excellent location within walking distance of the green. Wifi, plenty of pillows.
Room noisy from street traffic. Considering availability of rooms in this area, it is good for overnight. The real bad for Room 3 is the brightest
porch light I have ever seen right outside our window and no curtain, blind or any other room darkening cover for the window. I could
literally read a newspaper in bed in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 3 due to porch light

I have to disagree with several untrue statements in this review. To begin with, there is no paint peeling from the walls of the room they stayed in, there is only wall paper. Our bathrooms in some rooms are small. This reviewer stayed with us on Saturday and Sunday nights. We were full Friday night, almost full on Saturday night and half full on Sunday night. Sundays are historically are slowest nights, even on Holiday weekends. The reviewer also marked us low on cleanliness. Their room was clean when they checked in, they did refuse housekeeping service during their stay and it was filthy when they left. I believe the large amount of great reviews properly reflect our place.

The Homestead Inn is a home away from home. Bill, and his wife Sherry, provide accommodations to make your stay in quaint, old-town New Milford, CT as effortless and comfortable as possible. The Homestead Inn is a charming and affordable bed and breakfast, only a hop, skip and a jump from the center of town. The main house and surrounding cottage rooms are cozy and quiet. Most rooms have a fridge and microwave- this comes in handy in saving money- it’s a quick trip over to the Big Y Marketplace! There is a vast selection of DVDs to choose from the cupboard in the main house, as well as cable TV provided in each room. I wouldn't want to stay in any other B&B or hotel in this area, even if the rate was cheaper. I have stayed at The Homestead Inn on several occasions now- I've always felt safe, parking is not a problem and it couldn't be in a better location; the house faces the 'green' and is surrounded by historical homes. On top of all these luxuries, there are Bill and Sherry’s fabulous breakfast! They make the most delicious waffles and Egg Strata. There's a decent selection of cereals to choose from (more than most hotels would offer), plus a tasty assortment of muffins and fruit, coffee and a large selection of teas. I highly recommend The Homestead Inn to any individual, couple, or family. Whether you are traveling on vacation or for business, The Homestead Inn is by far the most worthy, affordable, and homey place to stay in the area.

Room Tip: Each room has its own character. The room in the main house, looking out onto the 'green' h...
