“Decent hotel in New London, off I-95”

Traveling up I-95 and my travel mate insisted we find an inexpensive room for the night. Via AAA we found this hotel just off the hwy. I was reluctant, but it was only for one night. I was pleasantly surprised that the room was very clean. It appeared that it may have been updated within the last few months. It was a quiet location, and the guests were quiet as well. We chose a no-frills room (no microwave/frig) and paid a AAA price of $53 for the night..Although, not a luxury hotel by any means, if you are passing through the area and would like a clean,cheap place to stay, this would be a good bargain. As another guest wrote, their is free bath soap and a small packet of shampoo for one, but no other toiletries. And even the no-frills room did not have a small coffee maker.

“Great value for price”

Very inexpensive but clean and comfortable. I got the king-sized bed and was impressed with the size of the room for an inn of this price. Comes with soap and shampoo but no conditioner or lotion. Microwave, fridge, and safe all provided, as well as a TV. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Friendly staff, quick check-in and check-out. Not much else you could ask for! Easily short walkable distance to the New London mall, $8 cab ride to the train station, close to the Coast Guard Academy. You could walk there if you wanted to, would probably take a half hour or so.

“!You will get ripped off!”

I recently stayed but after reading all these reviews I must say they are ALL correct. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE CHARGED $75 FOR DAMAGE SOMEBODY ELSE DID!!!!! Bathroom wall had damage & we even said how "ghetto" it looked. Well needless to say they should check more thoroughly their rooms to not charge innocent people! No remote either-not enough towels-flat pillows! WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN EVEN FOR FREE!

I am sorry your stay was not to your satisfaction. Our guest’s comfort and satisfaction is our number one priority! Our housekeeping teams prepare each and every guest room with the upmost attention to details and cleanliness. Your experience is not typical of what our guest experience. Our guests expect to have all the amenities in their rooms to experience the similar comforts of home. A remote control, adequate towels, and nice pillows are to be expected when you stay with us at Red Roof Inn. Should we have missed any of these items, I hope you did contact our front desk staff to make these necessary corrections for you. I hope you gave our staff the chance to make it right for you. I recently took over as the manager of the location in the early fall. Though I cannot correct other guest reviews on Trip Advisor, I am confident that this management team is dedicated to ensure all our guests are confident, significant, and delighted with their stay. Your concern about being charged for damage to your room is not taken lightly. I would encourage you to contact me at the inn so we can discuss this matter privately.

“Crack pipe under mattress”

We came here because this place was pet-friendly and we lost power at our home for the last 4 days. Although the room seemed somewhat clean, I checked the bed for bed bugs. Found nothing. I lifted the mattress and found a used crack pipe.
I didnt make a scene, I just returned it to the front desk letting them know. No offer was made to move rooms or maybe a discount. I checked out next day and am now staying in New Haven at the Premiere Hotel and Suites (also Pet-Friendly).
Also be aware, that everytime we took our dogs out to do their business, they came back in with a tick on them. Make sure you check your dogs.
I think they also had a lot of homeless people who might be staying there when its not so busy.
It's sold out now because of all the power outages in the state.
Room was extremely hot. Couldnt control heat. So I had to crank the A/C to balance it out.
If you're in Mystic area, I'd suggest the Hampton Inn in Mystic.
I guess you get what you pay for. But all other pet-friendly hotels were booked.

I apologize that your recent experience was less than perfect. All our hotel rooms are serviced routinely by a pest control company and the housekeeping team are trained to address any issues that arise. I am glad and would only expect that you found your room pest free. As for the item that you found under your mattress, this is not typical of our housekeeping team to have missed this item in their thorough cleaning process. I have read that have since left our hotel and you are staying somewhere else. I would like the opportunity to invite you back to our location. This is a no frills room but clean and comfortable. It was convenient to I95. The biggest plus was that pets are allowed.
