“This B&B is both beautiful and comfortable.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011 via mobile

If visiting NewHaven this is a fabulous place to stay. We found the B&B extremely clean and very comfortable. We were travelling with two small children and there was more than enough room in our bedroom and the large king size bed was very compfortable. The breakfast was over and above what you would expect at a B&B and the service was great. The owner was extremely helpful with any questions we had.

“Pleasant location for visiting Yale”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We visited Yale in September and we chose Farnam Guest House to spend the night close-by the campus. The house itself is very spacious and the garden is very well-kept as well. We had rooms B and C and were very happy about the quality of the mattress and pillows. The rooms were rather smallish but made excellent do seeing that we were only there to spend the night.

Breakfast was lovely on both mornings. We always got a freshly made fruit salad for starters and then got either eggs or pancakes. The jams on the breakfast table were absolutely delicious as well. One thing we did miss when breakfasting, was toast. However, we did not explicitly ask for toast so perhaps we would have gotten it if we had asked.

The innkeeper was very nice; she had the perfect combination of making us feel at home but was also very gracious to leave us by ourselves at other times.

The inn might belocated a bit to far from Yale for older people, but as the weather was very pleasant in September we did a 20-minute walk to the campus. Parking the car in downtown New Haven also wasn't a problem.

“very unpleasant”

When we arrived nobody was there to welcome us. It was expected because this is specified in the confirmation email, but it's not very pleasant. Moreover, this has been a problem because our room key got stuck in the lock. We could not leave our room. We waited three hours. My phone calls and emails remained unanswered during 2 hours. Despite she knew that we had a probleme with the door she didn't come to see us when she came back home ! I had to go looking for her in the house! After she fixed the problem, she did not even apologize for the inconvenience.
Breakfast was ridiculously poor. We are far from the majestic breakfast described on the website. Again the "hostess" was not here for welcome for us, we served our coffee ourselves, none of the guests did not know how it worked. This is not the hostess who made the breakfast (she does not welcome his guests, does not make breakfast: What is the interest to have a guest house ???). We asked for a breakfast with bacon for me and one without bacon for my wife, no one had bacon. Finally when the host came to say hello to all guests, she completely ignored my wife! Scandalous. And to make matters worse, the house is filled with religious stuff and attitude of the hostess is on the same way, it's really very unpleasant, everybody has his belief, but a hotel is not the place to display them !! We were really uncomfortable and our only desire was to leave. And it's very expensive for what it is!

“Pretty room and stylish breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

Farnam Guest House is beautifully decorated and we had a very stylish breakfast. Our room A (all the way upstairs) was pretty and quiet and we shared a nice bathroom across the hall. It was very convenient to be able to use a little self-catering kitchen as well.
