“Disappointed!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

Our stay in this hotel, Days Inn in foxon Blvd. New Haven, CT was HORRIBLE! My son and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights; July 2 thru 6, 2011. I was very disappointed on the services thaye have. For the first two nights, I had wi-fi for my iPad, then after that the wi-fi was gone. On the 4th of July the housekeepers didn't clean our room, nor change our beddings, no clean towels, garbage was not collected, no clean disposable cups, and no coffee for the coffeemaker in our room. I found that out when we came back that night, so I went to the fron desk and informed the receptionist. The guy named Rocky said that "it was fourth of July (a holiday) and some housekeepers didn't come for work that day". My point is, even if it's a holiday they should have asked some maids to come and work because the hotel has customers for that day. Common sense! Maybethe hotel didn't want to pay "time and a half" for those will work that day. He apologized for that and I asked him to just give me two sets of clean towels, garbage cans liners, clean cups, and coffee for two people. For the next two nights of our stay, yes they cleaned our room but they didn't provide us anymore with coffee for the coffee maker, I didn't ask anymore, instead I got my coffee from Dunkin' Doughnuts located next to the hotel. (I am a coffee drinker). I found bugs every morning crwling on a floor and a spider crawling on a wall. Very disgusting! I just wanted to get out of that hotel and write my review when I get back to Chicago.
The reason why we stayed here because it's only mile and half away from where my niece lives.
I hope the manager and staff of this hotel will read this review because they reall7y need to improve the service their offering to customers. They need to take care of the customers needs for we DID NOT stay there for FREE! I paid $413.95 and I didn't get the the services they have been offering. Don't mislead your customers, Days Inn. By the way we stayed in room 130.

I am really sorry to hear about all your complains, durring your stay. As for 4th of July, all of our maids were on duty, no one had the day off in the cleaning staff. However you had your Do not Disturb sign on few times during your stay that is why your room was not cleaned. If a guest has a Do not disturb sign on the door, maids will not go into the room. As for the coffee, we have no problem providing guest with extra coffee, all they have to do is either call front desk or come up and get it. As for your other complain about internet access, yes at first when you log on it is slow in the starting, but during your stay we had no internet complain. Also about the bugs, during your stay you never mentioned it to the front desk, if you had we would of changed your room, we would of never made you stay in the same room. However, I do appologize for the issues you had during your stay and I do hope you give us one more chance, but please next time if you have any issues contact the front desk right away at any hotel.

“Inexpensive, hassle free stay”

I stayed at this hotel over Columbus Day weekend due to the price and the fact that they had no minimum stay requirement. The hotel was conveniently located right off of the highway and within 10 minutes of downtown New Haven. The room appeared clean and I did not see any evidence of bugs as stated in previous reviews. Free breakfast was offered in the hotel lobby but I did not partake, instead choosing to go next door to Dunkin Donuts for coffee. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to the area

“Great Stay!! Clean, Excellent Staff/Management! Will stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

Stayed for 10+ days while our apartment went under repairs. Management gave me a GREAT price for our extended stay. Accomidated all of our needs and tolerated my 2 children (11 & 3) :-). Room & bathroom were very clean, bedding was clean. No bad smells! Free wifi which was great!! Cleaning staff was great (the woman inparticular! very friendly with my girls, the gentleman seemed to have a bit of an attitude issue with his ill manored looks to my children when they would walk by him).
Breakfast was ok .. Muffins, Bagels, pasteries, Cereal, Coffee, Tea & Juice. All fairly fresh. Our room had mini fridge, microwave, coffe/tea maker, bathroom had hairdryer, toiletries, decent towels. All very clean. Lighting was good as long as you had all the lights on at the same time.
We would definatley stay again and recommend to a friend!!

Thank you for the great stay!!!

“Pleasant inexpensive stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

Good place to throw your gear, head out to see New Haven and area. The proximity to the interstate and ease of access was important. From a nearby diner, to better eating, and Yale University in the city, a good place. Not a hotel for food, music, or such; just a place a family can get in and out while enjoying the sights they actually came to see. The WalMart next door is a must for traveling with teenagers who don't always pack what they should. Clean, economical, and easy...just what a traveling family wants when touring an area.

“Stay was OK, not Great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2010

At the arrival we thought I was going to have a problem. Although we had made reservations on the internet, the hotel didn't recieve it. We provided our printed documentation and the desk staff was able to provide us a room, even asking if we were a member of AAA or AARP so he could provide additional savings. In the end, our stay cost less that the online reservation.

The rooms were fairly clean, but not spotless. Bathroom was clean and small. The shower was very good. The room accomidations were basic. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. We did not use the high speed internet service because the use a very generic signin process. We did not use the breakfast service either.

House keeping was a bit of a problem. On the second morning, as we were leavingfor the days activities, the house keeping staff as if we wanted "roomservice" and we indicated yes. when we returned late that evening, our room had not been touched. the next day we left and did not see the housekeepers. Again when we returned, our room was not touched. The desk staff was able to provide fresh towels for us and we left the next moring.

I don't think that this situation was the result of laziness or inattention, (the house keeping staff worked at least 12-14 hours on the days we stayed there) rather I suspect that there was a language barrier involved in this situation. Having said that, if you are working in a country, you MUST be able to understand the needs of your customers in that country.

Make no mistake this IS an economy motel! at $64 per night, We did not expect more and you shouldn't either. I noted that other reviewers noted bed bugs and unclean rooms. We had none of those problems. If you stay here, you need a car!
