“Here the Bedbugs Bit!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2007

I would give this motel a good review, especially for the price, if I hadn't been devoured by bedbugs in our first room. The room appeared to be clean, the staff was nice, the breakfast was good; but I didn't know how to check for bedbugs until after we stayed there and I researched on the internet. I woke up at 3 AM and "caught" 2 bugs on my forehead. I freaked out and raced to bathroom and flushed them down the toilet. Too bad, as the manager was anything but helpful when I showed her the welts and bites on my arms and face (I counted 75 of them). She asked "Where are they?" when I said I had even caught the bugs and had recognized them from an article in US News a few weeks before. Apparently, I should have had the presence of mind to have saved them for her. The night clerk when I first reported it and showed her my bites had instantly offered us another room and said the manager would call me. She didn't and when I asked to speak to her, she was snippy, and down right rude. We still had to pay. Beware of the Comfort Inn in Milford CT!!!

  • Liked — The staff apart from the manager.
  • Disliked — The bedbugs and the manager's attitude.

“Room fine, typical Comfort Inn, nothing exciting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2007

Went there since the price of hotels around Bridgeport are so high. If you find the Hampton Inn at the same price as this, it would be better, but if you find this at 2/3 thAt price, such as $80 vs $110 and you are not hanging around the hotel during the day, this place is just fine. It is by truck stops, yet isolated but it seems quite safe, near a Stop and Shop and the highway. Actually, I-95 is so close you can see it and get your own traffic report (which could be worth it), but I did not really hear it. No reason NOT to use this hotel as some people say, tho the front desk should be friendlier, I guess, but not a biggie. One day no towels left, but in morning, the maid just gave them to me, so that was nice.

  • Liked — Near Hiway, ok breakfst, better price
  • Disliked — no Internet (phone only); if you need it, don't come here

“Value Price Not Always a Good Thing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

One of the cheapest rooms between Fairfield and New Haven. This is an old hotel in a good location. By good, I mean convenient to restaurants, gas, and I95 access, but without the horrendous traffic noise you would experience at the Hampton Inn and others in Milford along I95.

They remodeled the hotel two years ago. The rooms are up to date but not as clean as they could be. As others have written, they must pay the desk clerks minimum wage as I too had a checkin problem. Beware of their 4:30 cancellation policy. A few months ago,I did not know until right before 6 pm that I would not be able to make it there that night, but I had to pay for the room anyway.

“Too hot and not so hot at Milford CT Comfort Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2006

We stayed at the Milford, CT Comfort Inn on July 17th for one night. With extremely hot summer weather outside, we found the lobby to be fairly warm, the stairways and hallways to be uncomfortably hot (into the upper 90's F.). The first room we were given seemed to have been used since the cleaning staff had done it last, with ashes and crumbs in the otherwise neatly made bed, wrinkled sheets and a dirty shower. We asked for and were promptly given another room, which was clean and reasonably furnished. The room air unit took a half-hour to get the tempurature down to comfortable levels. Hallways and elevator looked a bit run-down, but not unusually so.
The hotel is situated in a busy area close to I-95, with many restaurants and lots of busy truck stops. It seemed to us to be a moderately priced and convenient highway stop but without charm. We'd look over other options beofre staying there again.

“Shabby Treatment at the Front Desk”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2006

I stayed here while relocating from the west coast back to Connecticut.

Upon arrival at the hotel, I asked for either the AAA discount or the AARP discount. When I presented my online receipt for my AAA membership, I was told that I needed an actual card. The fact that I'd joined only a week prior and had not yet received my AAA card was of no consequence to the front desk clerk. Then, I tried to present my AARP credentials. Unfortunately, the card in my wallet was expired. My membership renewal for AARP was in the car and I did not have time to go through my (packed) paperwork. The clerk wasn't buying any of this and did not allow either of the discounts.

The next morning, I'd found my AARP paperwork and card. But, the morning shift front desk clerk said she was not allowed to adjust rates after the fact. Both clerks were rather undiplomatic - to put it nicely. In fact, when I told the morning clerk that my Tripadvisor review was not going to be favorable, she responded "That's Good".

The discount was of small consequence. But, I was shocked at the obvious lack of concern and hospitality that was demonstrated. Over the prior week, I'd stayed at six or seven different hotels and they'd all allowed the discount requested.

In fairness, service otherwise was fine. The hotel room was clean and breakfast was fine. Still, I cannot recommend a hotel that treats it's guests in this fashion. If you are intent on staying here, you may wish to bring two or three forms of photo I.D. along with a signed and notarized affidavit from the President of AARP attesting to your membership. Maybe then you will get your discount...
