“Lovely inn--phenomenal innkeeper”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

Victoria, the innkeeper, is what makes this place wonderful. Not only does she take pride in the inn itself, but her love for the area can't be missed. We had never been to Connecticut and didn't have a chance to make much of a plan, but Victoria was interested in finding out about us and making recommendations to suit our personalities. While I prefer a more modern decor, I would most definitely stay at The Tidewater again if I am back in CT.

“We don't want you to know how wonderful this place is.....”

........because if you knew how great a time we had while staying there recently---you'd go too. And then------it'd be harder for us to get our next reservation------which I guarantee will happen as soon as possible.
All kidding aside-------we intended to get away and blow off some stress and pressure-----and this B & B was the perfect remedy. The hostess couldn't be more welcoming------the breakfast could not have been more delicious------and our room made us want to stay days beyond our time.
We'll be back-------and if you're smart------we'll see you when we do return!

“Very Comfortable, Awesome Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2008

Thanks Victoria... Cant say enough. This was my choice for a B&B. Traveling to DC with my teen son. It was so comfortable and I really felt at home. My son said your breakfast was the best meal we had on our whole vacation. It was nice chatting in the evening with you. I would not change a thing. You are doing an awesome job. PS my son would love the reciepe for the potato dish you served with breakfast. thanks again

“Great getaway place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2007

We stayed at the Tidewater Inn for two nights to celebrate my wife's birthday. Victoria, the owner, seems to have thought of every detail to make her guests stay a pleasant one. She has owned the Inn for 2 1/2 years, so disregard the less satisfactory reviews before her ownership. The breakfasts are excellent and unusual. There is plenty to do in the area. In the Summer she has beach passes for the local town beach. There are two rooms with king sized beds. We stayed in the Madison Room (king) and saw most of the other rooms. If you have a choice take the Madison Room. It is probably the nicest room in the Inn. Behind the Inn is a seperate building with a suite with a jacuzzi. We never saw that room.

“Part of a Wonderful Weekend Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2007

Just got back from staying at the Tidewater Inn and wanted to write about a wonderful, relaxing experience.
This was part of a 'girl-friends getaway' and from the moment we arrived we were nothing but delighted.
Victoria remembered all of our names and made it a point to greet us personally each time. The rooms were wonderful and the idea of snacks kept in the refrigerator for the guests added a nice touch. There were also bathrobes in each room and wonderfully fluffy towels!!
The breakfasts were delicious and unique each morning, and as someone who has certain dietary restrictions, they are more than willing to accomodate as much as they can.
Victoria's enthusiasm and suggestions for 'things to do' in the area were quite helpful as well.
We are planning to go back again SOON (and do some more shopping and sightseeing in this lovely area).
