“The Tidewater Inn Is Incredible!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Stay nowhere else in Connecticut, if you can help it - really! The Tidewater Inn does everything right.

The place itself is gorgeous in every detail of decorating and comfort. It's a trip to the most elegant facets of 19th century New England (and my son and I were last there for the Inn's lovely Christmas), but without any stuffiness. The rooms are to die for, too.

The place is owned by Victoria, and she has a way of creating a very personal experience without any hovering or intrusiveness. She's also the most amazing cook; there's no better breakfast in New England. And, you'll meet very interesting people around the elegant dining room table.

A word of caution: book early. This is not a place - especially in the summer - for spontaneously dropping in. The Tidewater fills up fast, as one would expect. So, do some planning if you want New England's best B&B experience.

Room Tip: They're all superb.

“We are looking forward to our next stay at this warm, comfortable and opulent Inn.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

We have visited and spent time in some nice B&B Inns in the northeast and can say with conviction that this has been an all around wonderful place.

Our host, Victoria, treated us with genuine warmth and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.

If you like antique tall four post trundle beds with comfortable mattresses, hot coffee and a wonderful breakfast served with not just a smile but also genuine conversation, this may just leave you with the same warm feelings we had.

“A Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We loved the Tidewater Inn, and the hostess,Victoria, and the food, the food, the food!!!!!!
Don't go if you want to get back into your clothes! Victoria's breakfasts are awesome, as is her hospitality; the Inn is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean and comfortable.
Victoria was welcoming, and helpful about places to visit, shop and eat, and even gave me two of her recipes.
do stay ther - you'll love it!

“Our favorite place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Very comfortable rooms, lovely gardens, fabulous hospitality, delicious breakfasts, and an excellent location with lots to do. We've been coming here for several years and Victoria has always made us feel at home, and is very helpful with recommending restaurants for dinner. Choose The Tidewater for your next get-away... you won't be disappointed.

“Charming B&B with great breakfasts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

This was our third stay at the Tidewater Inn. The proprietor, Vicky, is very friendly. She loves to talk, but even more she loves to cook, and she makes awesome breakfasts, something different every day. She also offers guests wine, cheese, fruit and conversation 5-7 pm daily. The inn is immaculate, the rooms are charming, filled with 4-poster beds and old-style furniture - but up-to-date private bathrooms and TVs! The Tidewater is 1 mile from beautiful Hammonasset State Park, with 3 separate beaches and a nature center. Vicky will also give you passes to any of 3 Town beaches, each of which has its own character. There's plenty of good dining nearby, an excellent small theatre in Ivoryton, a museum in Old Lyme (each less than half an hour away), a good movie theatre in town, charming artsy shops and antiqueing - there's loads to do. We look forward to returning there as soon as we can get away again.

Room Tip: All rooms have AC; the inn is on the Boston Post Rd, but noise is absolutely not an issue. One rm ha...
