After reading all the reviews for this hotel, we decided to spend our July 4th weekend here.
The hotel is conveniently located right off the Merritt Pkway, and is a very nicely decorated , clean and quiet. The staff is very courteous, and the household staff did a wonderful job of making sure that that our suite was immaculate, smelled fresh and had all the toiletries which we needed. Internet access was available in the suites, and there was a computer in the lounge area as well.
A restaurant is located on the property, and I happened to visit it, but was not really impressed with neither the food nor the service.
There were two issues which caused some concern.
I noticed that the side entrance door which was located in front of the front parking lot was never locked. Anyone could have entered at anytime of night just by opening, and the scary thing is that they would have access to all the guest rooms. That I have never seen, and consider it extremely dangerous.
I had called earlier to see if I could have a refrigerator in my room, since the king suite does not come with one. I was told that the cost would be $20 per night. I asked if there would be any taxes and/or surcharges, and was told that there should not be. I thought that $20 seemed pricey, but I accepted it anyway.
At checkout, I was charged a total of $67.20 for 3 nights, $3.60 for state tax and $3.60 for occupancy tax for the refrigerator.
While I like the hotel and could overlook the refrigerator issue, I'm not too sure about the security.
All they need to do really, is to either replace the door, so that guests have to use their keys to gain entry, unless they're entering through the lobby (of course).
