“disgusted”

we found this hotel on priceline.com. Price seemed good. When we got to hotel lobby seemed nice, front desk attendant didn't give us a map to the hotel or tell us where anything was. We were on the 1st floor. When we walked in the door my husband who is handicap stepped on the steps to go in the building and almost fell cuz steps were shaky. Get into room ( and being a housekeeper myself and someone who excepts a room to be clean no matter how much you pay) wasn't the case. There was a handfull of food crumbs on table by tv, food crumbs by microwave, crap on the floor, ashes on bathroom sink, inceanse stick stink in bathroom light switch on the wall, TV volume keeps going from low to extremely loud, the heater blows more cold air than hot. where the room was so dirty and I had to clean it myself i pulled the sheets back to make sure they were clean and they looked it. We were stuck in a pickle cuz when we made the reservation you had to pre pay for your whole stay so could leave cuz no extra money for a different hotel. I'm so thankful that the people that clean this hotel do not clean my house. will post another review after i see pool and breakfast. hope it's better than the room. Think TWICE before stay. Think I'm gonna call ramada and see what they will do this hotel doesn't deserve the Ramada name....

“Great hotel, would happily stay another night.”

We had a great night stay here, and will happily come back. The double room was nice with an unexpected desk, chair/lounge, coffee maker, microwave, and fridge for the price we paid (under $85 a night). The room was clean, and beds were very comfortable with 4 fluffy pillows per bed. The bathroom was HUGE and very clean. We hadn't gotten a chance to use the hot tub and pool because we didn't have enough time, but they were also clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

For those of you going to Mohegan Sun it's pretty close (10-15 min going rt 12 which has less traffic) No shuttle but we didn't mind the drive. Look for discount coupons at roomsaver.com which is how we got our great deal.

Can't wait to stay again!

“5-Star Bed in a 2-Star Hotel”

We made a last minute booking at the Ramada Groton due to a snow storm that made us decide to stay off the roads. The room was very inexpensive (about $55 a night). While the front desk staff was friendly and professional, my husband and I couldn't help noticing the smell of smoke emanating throughout the hotel. This is a hotel in dire need of having every single carpet removed, because the smell is ingrained. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the room. Our king size bed was not only extremely comfortable, but the linens were great. The room was clean and comfortable. When you book an inexpensive hotel room, you usually end up with a horrible bed. So this was a bonus. That said, there was no soap in the bathroom and when we arrived for the continental breakfast, there was no coffee left and no one around to assist. The location was great. However, I'd recommend the Great Western (right nearby) as a higher end (but more expensive) Groton alternative.

“Very comfortable stay”

Two night stay, room 212 in January 2012. Front desk employee when we checked is was extremely professional and friendly. Room was in very good shape, bed was very comfortable. Decent size room with king size bed, desk off to the side, microwave and fridge. The sink was in the room, and on the smaller side which was different. The AC/Heat unit worked very well. The breakfast area is all the way on the bottom floor (below main lobby). Your basic continental breakfast of fruit, cereal, toast, bagel, toaster waffles and french toast and juice and coffee. Didn't use the pool, but it looked rather clean. As others stated there is a smell of Indian food due to the attached restaurant, bar looked nice, and there is also a hair salon off the main lobby. All employees I interacted with were very kind and professional. The only 'cons' I can mention were very minor details. The remote to the TV didn't work, which didn't matter since it was late every night I got back. One of the dresser drawers feel out when opened up. The shower had warm water, not really hot. You could turn it on all the way hot and not get burned (i like hotter showers to run on my back when its tight). The worst issue encountered was the toilet would not completely flush the last morning there. The parking lot was pretty full, and I did not hear a person at all during the night (some reviews say the walls are thin). The hallway does have a few creeks as you walk down it, and look slightly dated, but everything was super clean. Hotel did have an elevator but it was at the end of our hall so we always took the stairs when returning/leaving. Five Guys Burgers next door, Walmart across the street. Price was a few dollars more than the Super 8 down the road on this weekend, and the Ramada is a much nicer property for sure. $141 dollars total for a Friday and Saturday night, great bargain if you ask me.
