My wife and I got a room here at the start of a major storm in CT and the hotel quickly sold out due to widespread power outages in the area. The rooms themselves were decent, bed comfortable, good size tv's and good amenities all around. However, the staff quickly got surly as they could not handle the demand for the rooms, especially the front desk manager. When I booked the room for two nights I was told by a front desk clerk that once I had a reservation I could extend it which I attempted to do the next day to no avail. She then quite dishonestly told me that she never said that, but other guests were told the same thing. This was untrue and misleading and unacceptable for a hotel of this brand and resulted in a lot of ill feeling on the part of their guests.
For me, this conduct of the staff far outweighed the niceties of the hotel and made for an unpleasant stressful stay. Moreover, the hotel was unprepared for the breakfast in the morning. It was a disappointing spread both days with cold eggs, no fresh fruit, constant empty coffee dispensers, plastic silverware, paper plates, and all around substandard offerings. When this power crisis passes, the hotel should reassess their treatment of their guests.
