My husband and I used the Holiday Inn Express for its stay, park and fly at the beginning and at the end of a recent trip. The hotel is not really that close to the airport, a longer drive than expected. The experience the first night was fine. We took the scheduled 7 a.m. shuttle the following morning and were assured that the shuttle would be available on our return - a flight scheduled to arrive at 10:35 p.m. The shuttle stops running at 11:30 p.m., so our only concern was having our flight arrive on time. It was a bit early, and we phoned the HI. We were told that the shuttle was on a run, and it would be a few minutes. When I asked how long, we were told 20 minutes. After a half hour, we phoned and were told it would be "any minute". This turned out to be an additional 10 minutes. On asking the driver, he said he'd been on a run to a restaurant. Turns out the hotel will take you anywhere you want to go, which I suppose is nice, but there was only one driver/van, so it was not available for pick-up at the airport when we needed it. The reaction of the desk clerk was "Sorry".
The next morning the breakfast area was crowded, which is understandable, but several individuals (both children and adults) were dressed in pajamas with no shoes. When I asked the desk clerk about a policy, she said that since they're coming from their rooms they can hardly be told what to wear. I think that at a minimum from a health perspective, shoes could and should be required.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your recent stay with us and also for the review. I apologize if you were not given a reasonable estimate of your expected wait or felt the time was too long. While it is true that in addition to the complimentary airport shuttle our hotel will also bring our guests to local attractions, restaurants and shopping in a ten mile radius of the hotel for free, we do have a great track record of expeditious turn around time on all requests especially airport returns, I therefore apologize if you did not receive service as promptly as we would both hope. Our short under ten minute drive to the airport has proven a welcome retreat for most guests to get away from the airport noise and I hope that you were also able to enjoy these comforts.
Lastly, while it is true that we have only limited control over our guests attire in this casual setting, shoes and socks are required for safety purposes. I apologize that not everyone has respected these reasonable policies and I will be sure to inform our staff to keep a good eye out for this.
Thanks again and we hope to see you the net time your travels bring you by.
