i was surprised at how dated the springhill suites in danbury was - I haven't seen a NON-flat screen in a hotel for 5 years. this TV was one of those that bulges out the backend for about 24 inches and caused the TV cabinet to take more room than necessary. the rooms were cleaned OK, but the common areas always seemed a bit dirty.
the rooms were small for a springhill suites. the mattresses were old, not up to marriott current standards. the room walls were thin and emitted lots of noise.
the breakfast service and area is so cramped and there was not adequate room for people to sit, much less move along the food line and among tables. the food was set up strangely with items that should go together being placed at opposite ends of the lines causing you to go back and forward getting in people's ways - there was no rhyme or reason where things were placed. the plates were not at the front of the line, the cold water pitchers were right next to the eggs but the cups for the water were at the end of the line. very strange and sloppy, so people kept bumping into each other.
the staff was pretty nice, but some of the kitchen and other staff kept going to and using the front desk telephone for personal calls, speaking very loudly while stretching the telephone cords across the counter to where the guests stand, talking personally. people even called in fr these staff on those phones and the front desk supervisors would go find the staff to tell them they had calls. strange. and very noisy in small lobby/breakfast area.
i like the springhill suites brand a lot but this one is very outdated and needs attention.
