“Hotel on the decline”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times in past years and have found this experience to be very disappointing. The switch to the Doubletree Brand can only be an improvement over the state of things now. We stayed at Christmas and 1) found out after returning to our room in the evening that we were supposed to pick up fresh towels at the front desk since the housekeeping staff was off 2) the hairdryer in the room did not work and I had to be let into another room since they did not have one to bring up 3) the blankets on the bed were the flimsiest I have ever seen in any hotel - we froze the first night since there were no extras in the room 4) the television reception did not include NBC or CBS. I will not stay here again until this hotel changes hands.

Dear General Manager,

Please take a moment and review the attached pictures. When I checked out of room #416 I informed the staff of the obvious fire that had occurred in this room previously and that I wanted to make sure my bank card was not charged for any damages. My bank card has not been charged for damages, however the “hold” is still on my account.

I realized the shower tiles were damaged and that the bathtub was lined with mold as I was trying to take a bath. After noticing these issues, I began to look around and discovered urine that had run down the front of the toilet and pooled at the base. Because I was sitting on the edge of the tub, I could see the cover for the lighting in the bathroom, nowhere near laying flush. Plastic cover possibly touching hot lights? Really?

So with all this, I was concerned with the smoke detector and it’s functionality. Again, please see attached.

Needless to say, the stay was a disappointment. The only good thing I can say is that the bed linens were clean. Waste of my $86.

Dear Traveler-

I appreciate your response. As you know we are renovating the property and reflagging it to a Doubletree by Hilton. Many of the things you expressed concerns about we are addressing in the renovation with a complete overhaul of product that we are aware is dated. It is our goal to make every one of our Guest’s stay as comfortable as possible. We have recently added items like the brand new Hilton “Sweetdream” beds in all of our rooms as well as new 300 thread count linen throughout all of our rooms in anticipation of the flag change.

The Owner is 100% dedicated in making this hotel truly an amazing place to stay and we are VERY excited about where we are going. We know there will be some growing pains with construction and the transition as we move forward. So we thank you for comments and look forward to having you stay with us again!

Thank You-

“excellent service”

Having spent a chunk of my professional career in the hotel business, I admit to being extra picky and overly observant - both of which can ruin a vacation! This hotel was geared to give service, good service. You can always tell the mgmt style of the person in charge by the behavior of the staff and this one was right on. From check in at the front desk to a request for extra towels my expectations were met 110%. The site was clean and friendly, the room was the same - great towels! Their location is not that fantastic but not really bad - you have the otis elevator test tower in view. Would I stay there again? Absolutely!! People are really what service is about and this team has it down.

“Nice stay, nothing extra special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

I stayed here for business, and its a nice hotel. The entrance is a bit tricky, and is parking is full, the walk to the front entrance can be a bit much as there's no side entrances. The elevator talked to you (told you the floor, going up or down) but the door opened before the elevator was fully stopped. My room was nice and clean. Bathroom was large but, not so good. The toilet paper roll was in the worst possible spot. Don't try sitting on the toilet and getting toilet paper. The shower head was in the worst possible spot. I'm 5'11 and the shower head was placed at my neck. Try washing your hair, not so easy. Plenty of hot water in the sink and shower. Wireless internet was average at best, nothing in the room informed you how to connect/what the networks were named. Bed was super comfy as were the pillows. TV didn't have a ton of channels, mostly locals and the usual assortment. I feel like they have made upgrades, but still kept a lot of the 90's pastel colors in the wallpaper and such. No free breakfast in the AM, they got a restaurant on site and have room service. The phone has an annoying room service button that flashes 24/7. Check in and out were smooth. I was super familiar with the area so getting around wasn't an issue. One of the biggest annoyances happened before I checked out, when the maid knocked on my door asking when I was leaving. I have till 12 noon, so why ask? I stayed on the 5th floor, no noise issues, slept like a rock.

“Love the Bristol Clarion!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I have stayed at the Bristol Clarion several times the last few months. I find it a fantastic place and the staff there are great people. Brandon, Tina and all the rest make me feel like I am with family. The hotel itself is very clean and modern. Myself as well as my kids LOVE the indoor pool which is always at just the right temperature. The rooms are spacious and clean. beds are comfortable. Everything I would want in a hotel at a reasonable price. I would recomend to anyone to give the place a try.
