Hannah & Joel were the perfect hosts during our family reunion weekend. It was easy to feel right at home in their casual & relaxed home. We had family of all ages & there were comfortable places for all ages. Younger kids loved the childrens nook in the garden. Teens loved playing on the lawn & everyone enjoyed the beach & porches. On a rainy day you could spend the entire time inside & never be bored...the artwork everywhere, family room and reading materials are all condusive to R&R!

We booked this trip as a last minute weekend getaway and we are sure glad we did. We were originally supposed to stay a Saturday night. We were warmly greeted by the unassuming hosts and their beautiful dog. The house, situated on landscaped gardens on the edge of the bay, has beautiful views to the open sound. We stayed in the master bedroom which was well furnished with a comfortable bed and very nice bathroom. The views of the lawns and the sound were stunning from each and every window. The sounds were quiet with the exception of the birds chirping away the morning hours. The town itself is pretty sleepy, even by New England standards. That, of course is exactly what we were looking for. Still there were a number of good restaurants and places to dance to the evening away. (They may close up a bit early to say night away)

Anyway, as I said, we planned on staying just one night. Given how good it went, we stayed two. How could we not?

Cant wait to go back.

We have stayed at bed and breakfasts everywhere. This location can't be beat. We were welcomed by gracious hosts. However, the house is showing signs of wear and tear and through our eyes it was not spotless. The furniture is a little soiled as is the carpet. The smoke detector in our room had no batteries. The shampoo bottle in the bathroom was half used. There was a spot on our sheet. Breakfast was good. Nothing extraordinary.

It's hard not to feel relaxed when you wake up to the sight of the Long Island Sound lapping at the Thimble Islands. We stayed in the Garrett Apartment and /adored/ our night there.

Also, don't miss the wonderful brunch / lunch at Stony Creek Market just down the way. (In the summertime, Stony Creek Market turns into a fantastic pizza shop in the evening.)
