“Beautiful location is about the only positive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

We spent 4 days and 3 nights for a family reunion. We had every cabin rented out, and an attendance of about 75 people. One of the staff was very nice, however two others in the office/kitchen need a desperate lesson in customer service. They would argue when simple questions were asked about billing or additional food, gave conflicting answers regarding meal times and activities and were very easily flustered. If we had received better customer service at the beginning of the stay, each of all the other little things may not have snowballed into build-up of an overall very disappointing experience.

The scenery is beautiful - great view, nice hikes to beautiful red rocks (although they were filled with beer cans and broken glass in some areas) Some of the rooms/cabins were nice and well kept, but others had not been cleaned, had broken beds, doors that wouldn't lock, trash piled up around the building, etc. There were tons of moths - screens that wouldn't keep them out if a window was open. The food was decent but didn't stay warm, was limited in options, sometimes stale/ reheated from the day before and the staff was extremely rude when asked if there was more food when it ran out.

As far as the activities, the archery was fun for kids along with the basketball court, horseshoes and playground. The pool was supposed to be heated but was pretty cold all but the first day. The petting zoo wasn't always available and the horse rides were extra cost ($40 per person for an hour). Even a half hour ride around the corral for the kids was $40. The conference room we reserved had no power the first night, although they did come bring some spotlights in to help out and it was fixed the next night. Hayrides were advertised but not available.

We spent a lot of money and it would have been ten times nicer if a few of the staff had been just a little more skilled in interacting with customers in an appropriate manner. I recommend some new management and for them to take a little more pride in the condition of the property and care of their clientele. Definitely do not recommend this establishment.

Room Tip: Horrible customer service, run down, DISAPPOINTING

“Poor Choice on Our Part - We Won't be Back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

We visited with our 2 boys for 3 days. We stayed in Bunkhouse # 2 - beautiful view of Pike's Peak. The accommodations were what we expected except the unbelieveable moths that came in through the old window seal. I did have to sweep and mop the place myself when we moved in. I think the maid forgot. I borrowed a broom from outside the swimming pool and used wet wipes for a mop because the office was closed by then. They did give us a broom to keep the next day. The pool was OK - unfinished but usable, the ping pong table was also musty smelling, there was no archery that we were aware of even though my 8 yr old son was so looking forward to it, our hour-long horseback ride was very nice, our guide was very sweet as was the gal in the office. But the $40 arena ride for my little one was 5 rounds around a dirt arena. He was bored, my husband who led him was bored - there was absolutely nothing exciting about it, and everything else we read in past reviews of this place fell short, way short. The photos showed a full fridge which was not the case but the printed information did mention a mini fridge which I guess I missed. There were no sightings of bears - the folks in the stable said they'd never - never - seen them. The petting zoo was laughable - really. There were no friendly staff around - not as the website suggests - except the caretakers for the horses who were polite enough when spoken to. The picnic gazebo was run down and weedy, there's a baseball court - outdated but ok - swings - my swing-lover 3 yr old was not interested because it just looked unapproachable - for lack of a better description. The pool OK but there was no welcoming feel to the place, and definitely no "smell of home-cookin' in the air". It was a very depressing Ghost Town. It may have seen better days. I went there positive, excited and I do like peaceful, calm...this was neglected, depressing and run down. I couldn't help but feel I had been taken (financially). Because it was so negative, we basically used it just to sleep in and $150+ is a big price to pay for that. I wish we had stayed in Manitou or COS. For the next 3 nights in Manitou, we paid less, had better accommodations, even maid service!, closer accessibility to the tourist landmarks (even tho that wasn't our expectation with TripleB) and much, much better value. Having said that, I think if you board your horses there and go out to ride all day, it may be your cup of tea. They do have a lot of horses and what looks like a huge outdoor oven and a pavilion which may be fun for very large groups who go out there for an evening but nothing that I can see for small families - at least on our visit.

“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at Triple B. Woodland Park is big enough to get pretty much anything you need. The facilities are very nice, but I do have to say is the best part is that we had the whole place to ourselves. Our timing was perfect as the staff said the whole place was booked the next week. We stayed in one of the Carriage houses which are very small, and have a full bed instead of a queen sized bed. It says this in the literature but I didn't notice that until we got there. Because of this we ended up using the hide-a-bed which was OK. When we were making reservations the staff person did recommend one of the larger cabins but we decided on the Carriage House as it was siginificantly cheaper. We didn't spend much time in the room so the size didn't really matter to us. The ameneties are really as a filler between doing all the other stuff there is to do close by (Pike's Peak, Anasazi cliff dwellings, Garden of the Gods, etc). The pool and hot tub were working (the pool is a little shallow but was warm). The staff was very helpful and polite. One recommendation I would have is that if you stay at the Triple B and plan to take a trail ride with them, and want to visit Garden of the Gods and are thinking about horseback riding there, drive/walk through Garden of the Gods instead and take 2 rides with the Triple B. The ride through the Garden of the Gods was OK, but the Triple B ride was better, and you were treated less like sheep. You can drive/hike most of the Garden of the Gods. The whole ride is a walk and you aren't going to "Cowboy", but I can understand this as they don't have any way to know the true capability of the riders. We would definitely go back here again.

Pros: View, setting, amenities, price, staff

Cons: Cabins are grouped pretty close together, the carriage houses at least are small

“Great family atmosphere and fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We spent the week at the Bear Trap cabin-aptly named since the bears came around twice. Very clean, neat and comfortable. We had the all-inclusive package, and the meals were better than great-home cooking all the way! With beginning riders, the guides and horses were great, and the views fantastic-Ron, Kelly and Lindsay spent a lot of time answering questions from the 6 and 10 year old.

Just a good, clean family place-not a 5 star resort, but plenty for normal people to do, to get away from the ratrace, get the kids outdoors and exposed to something different-we will be back!

“Absolutely Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

I cannot say enough good things about this resort. My wife and I along with our daughter and her three children had a wonderful time during our stay at the Triple B Ranch. The staff, the cabin, the facilities, and the view were spectacular. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, and hated to leave. I strongly recommend the Triple B Ranch for families who are looking for a place to relax and enjoy quality time with their children.
