“Great Time at Bristlecone Lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

We stayed 3 nights at Bristlecone Lodge in one of their cabins. The cabin was very nice and clean. A separate bedroom, two televisions, cable, etc. We ate breakfast in the lodge each morning and the waffles were very good. Fluffy towels and good housekeeping service. The only issues we had were with road noise. The evenings were mild (around 65 degrees) so we slept with the windows open. There is a trucking organization with the road right behind the cabin so there were numerous trucks going in and out but they stopped before too late but started around 7:30 in the morning. We bought some dinner to cook on the grill that is provided outside, but unfortunately there are no spices (not even salt/pepper) or tongs, pancake turners, etc. to use on the grill. There were no matches or fire starters of any kind. On the other hand, the people in the office were great. We used the laundry and the prices were very reasonable. We would definitely go back.

“Nice cabin - close to many sites but away from the crowds”

We stayed 2 nights at the Bristlecone Lodge cabins as part of a longer trip through central Colorado. The cabin was very nice - extremely clean and very new looking. There was a lot of room to spread out with a good sized bedroom, a large bathroom, and a large main room with a fold out sofa bed, a recliner, a table and chairs, a counter and fridge. The cabin is also bright and airy having faulted ceilings throughout. There was also a nice front porch with a bench for sitting outside and enjoying the cool evening air. These cabins are duplexes and are in the corner of an RV campground that is fairly compact but there are a lot of trees which helps. A nice breakfast is provided in the main building next to the cabins and was pleasantly served by the owners. From this location it was not far to many surrounding sights, but it is away from more crowded areas.

However, there were a couple of small negatives. Some of the cabins (ours was one) are located next to a major road and there was significant traffic noise. However, it was not enough to be a significant problem for sleeping. Also, if you are expecting a cabin that is out in the woods, this RV park is definitely in town across from a residential neighborhood (though there are convenient restaurants and stores just a little way down the street.)

We looked at a number of options in the area and I think it was a pretty good choice if you are looking for more room and would rather have a cabin than a hotel room.

“Beautiful!”

My husband and I stayed for 8 days in one of the Cabins, all we can say is WONDERFUL. Everything about Bristlecone is excellent, the staff, the owners, the room and atmosphere of the whole place is beautiful. Great home made waffles in the lodge for breakfast was a nice change from so called "continental" breakfast. The owners even ate breakfast with us and chatted about the activities we were interested in and they didn't let us down!
The housekeeping is fabulous, VERY clean, they provided more than enough of everything and with a smile! Outside hot tub is large and also very clean, nice on the cool nights in the mountains. WIFI great, movies to check out @ office great, super comfortable beds with real king size pillows and real comforter extra great!
We will be going back with RV later in the year, to stay in the park there and I'll write a review about that also. The whole place is filled with huge pine trees and some aspen.
Beautiful!

“GREAT PLACE TO STAY! Super clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

Now called Bristlecone Lodge. We booked this last minute and it could not have been better. The cabins look brand new and everything in them looks to be brand new. The mattress and bedding on the bed in the bedroom were superb, not your ordinary hotel bedding. Plush robes hanging in the closet which were great to snuggle into after a dip in the hot tub in the evenings. There is a grill right outside the cabin w/ a picnic table that we used to cookout on and do smores one night. There is a campfire ring w/ chairs around it and wood for anyone that wants to do that. The rooms were super clean and plenty of linens provided. Breakfast in the main building in the mornings was great. We saw a sign-up sheet for a potluck that they were having coming up. Everyone we encountered working there or just helping out was courteous and helpful. Even informed us of road closures in and around the area due to fires and flooding. Could not have asked for a better place to stay.

The only "downside" I can even come up w/ for this place is the location being right by the road. Even though it is close to the road they do a great job of putting the cabins as far as possible from it and situating them on the property and trees around. I can easily overlook the proximity to the road because of all of the positives that come with staying here. It's not like they can move the road so they worked great with what they had. Everything that a lodging establishment is responsible for they passed with flying colors. GREAT JOB!
