“Hotel was Good, Shame about the Restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Just back from a 10 day stay at the hotel, 25th - 4th Feb 2012, I too read all the negatives about the hotel but i like to make my own mind up and give people the benifit of the doubt, the Hotel it's self was very good a little expensive in the Bar but that's hotels for you eh,
we were in a party of 10 so we had three rooms, the staff at the hotel were very helpful and the rooms were kept very clean and room service was on the ball,
The Restaurant was very poor, the morning service was ok but the evening waiting staff hadn't got a clue, 4 off us decided to have a meal in the restaurant after a few days using the local establishments, i ordered a french onion soup and a burger, the others ordered just a chicken sandwich, all the food went to another table first after about 30 mins wait, the restaurant wasn't full so no idea why it took so long, the food finally arrived at our table and i informed the waitress....... what did she want me to eat first the soup or the burger ? she appoligised and took the burger away, i finished my soup and the burger made a re apearance, COLD, the chef came out & appoligised and took it away, another 30 mins and the rest of our party on my table had finished thier selection, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted the bill i informed her it would have been nice to have the burger first but not to worry and cancell the burger, as we got up to leave after we had paid our bill the burger made an apperance .... what a joke........
My son and his friends were over on the other side of the restaurant and had also ordered burgers ( 6 in total) i had a little joke with them and said i was off to Mac Donalds for a real burger lol. lol.........
In Mac Donalds i had finished my burger when all the lads came in and asked for burgers, i was stunned apparently the waitress came out to them after about 40 mins and asked them if the had ordered chicken when they replied No and enquired to how much longer on the waiting she informed them the had got the order wrong and the burgers hadn't been started to be cooked yet so they all got up and walked out
We didn't eat in the restaurant again for the rest of the time we were in the Hotel
A real shame as it lets the rest of the hotel down,
There is a shuttle bus system that operates from the hotel to the resort and into town which is free but a real pain really, too cold to walk anywhere, the whole resort is a tad expensive by american terms especially for food a hot dog and fries just under $10 in the resort.
Our group have already decided not to go back as too expensive although the snow and the mountain was supurb wide open runs

“exceptional staff v good”

We have just finished our holiday at winter park mountain lodge 29thJan-7th feb 10days, and have to say despite several bad reviews we had read, was pleasantly suprised. The front desk staff were more than helpfull, in fact excellent, and the accomadation was very clean. Our room was huge and very comfatable with controlable heating, tv and other comforts . I do belive some people in there sad little lives have nothing better to do than complain about nothing!!, its a ski lodge at the end of the day, with people leaning skis and boards up against the walls, with wet boots and gear walking in and out on a daily basis, yet its still kept very clean and tidy and to a very good standard. My advise would be try it for yourselves, and dont pay to much attention to the petty minds, of some people who have nothing better to do than moan, and place bad and unjust reviews,on what can only be described as a great place!!, great skiing and great holiday!!! thank you winter park mountain lodge....

Well done Winter Park Mountain lodge - keep it up!

Didnt use the hottubs or pool so cant comment on those.

“Great service, extremely helpful and friendly staff”

My husband and I stayed here for a 2 week snowboarding holiday and found it great, despite all the negative reviews. The staff more than made up for the average condition of the hotel itself. Our room was huge, with more than enough space to store all our snowboarding equipment. The staff make this hotel great, everyone was extremely helpful and friendly, including the Moffat Station staff where we ate regularly. We will definitely be coming back here for our 2 week holiday next year in 2013.

“Good value accommodation with great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Just returned from 10 nights in the WPML and was really very pleased and surprised that the horror stories recounted by some recent guests were not our experience. Yes, it a ski/mountain lodge so, hey readers, expect to find signs of this as guests trample all sorts of snow and muck in and out of the building day after day. In fact, the common entrances and areas are clearly kept conspicuously clean. Accommodation is comfortable, the pool/sauna area were in the course of upgrade (though in use) and perfectly serviceable to standards acceptable to several guest users. The bar/restaurant is great VFM with the usual 'happy hour' deal seen elsewhere backed up by a generous and reasonably-priced bar menu. Chef produced a high quality daily 'special' which I found very palatable. The staff are great - enthusiastic and helpful; Mike the barkeep a great fun guy and the Moffat Station bar had a good evening buzz. We felt no need to venture into 'downtown' Winter Park of an evening. Sure, it's a bit of a pain to be able to see the resort base across the road and have to wait for a shuttle but I guess the careful planners will have noted this already and decided to go for the Zephyr or Fraser Crossing if looking for immediate access to the slopes. A 10 min or less shuttle ride doesn't feel too onerous - we were up at 7.30, breakfasted and queuing for the first lift by 8.30 to 8.45 most mornings. And the in-house ski/board service did a great job tuning our skis at a price that was a good deal cheaper than on the mountain. To be fair to readers, the first floor odd-numbered rooms overlook the car park to the rear so best ask for a room on floor 3 of 4 or to the front of the lodge if a view is your thing. As we were either out or in the room during the night hours, it didn't bother us. Already looking at next year's return trip.

Room Tip: See above.
