I attended a retreat that was held at this hotel, so I had no input into the selection. While this was not the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at, it was not a place that I would return to in the future. The hotel was not very nice to our group even though this event had been held there many times, we were scolded about leaving a table with snacks out in the hallway (who cares?) and about asking people to walk quietly past our meeting room when we were in session.
It is located directly off the highway which results in significant road noise. My room faced the highway and even with the door closed and the fan on, I could still clearly hear traffic noise 24/7. The hotel is older and apparently was constructed before noise dampening became popular. When my neighbors on either side slammed their doors or let them close, my entire room shook.
The stairs were outdoor and were absolutely filthy with bird mess on them to the point of it being caked on and creating a layer of mess. The room itself had two double beds, some very thin sheets and a worn and scant comforter. The pillows were ok, the towels were tiny and there was no fan in the bathroom. The toliet did not flush properly and the shower left me standing in several inches of water as it was not draining properly.
The TV was older with a limited selection of channels, no guide available and less than great reception.
The breakfast was cold cereal and toast - adequate for most, but the seating area was completely inadequate for the size of the hotel and it was even a challenge to get to the food because of the size and layout of the area.
Overall, not awful - it was clear that the housekeeping staff made an effort - the carpets were stained as were the sheets and comforter...
