“No internet, no propane and a bias review policy, other than that excellent stay”

Don't get me wrong my friends and i had a great stay. It was probably one of the best weekends of my life but there were a few things missing. First off was the internet, We noticed that there was no wireless internet in our room so i went down to the lobby to see what the problem was. The receptionist said that internet was an extra $10 a day, i thought it was kind of ridiculous that they wanted to charge me for something that Mcdonald and Super 8 will let you have for free, but no big deal. I tell her that i'll take the the internet and as i pull out cash to pay for it she tells me that i have to call a 1-800 number with a credit card to get the service (sigh). So i go back to our room and call the number. After making my way through the automated answering machine, i end up talking to an operator i can barely hear for 15 minutes trying to get service before he tells me that they don't offer internet in Vail. I don't know what the issue was but i gave up after that. For how much i paid internet should have been free, like it is everywhere els, if i have to pay for it they should at least call the number for me. Another thing that was missing was the propane for the BBQ, I never asked them about it but i'm sure it was ether missing or i was going to have to pay for it. The last thing that bothered me was the way i was asked to write this review when i was checking out. The conversation went like this
Receptionist: How was your stay?
Me: Awesome, we had a great weekend
Receptionist: Good, since you had such a great stay you should go to this web site and write a review, you'll be entered into a drawing to win a complimentary one-night stay.

I thought it was kind of ridiculous that she gave me the card with this web site on it only after i told her that we had a great stay. Other than that the Vail Racquet Club is great, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, year round pool and hot tubs ect.

New High Speed Internet installed July 2011 – Free to Guests

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback.

Internet Update: In summer 2011, we installed Comcast high speed internet to every unit on property (The prior internet access was provided by a public WiFi service offered throughout Vail from Century Link.) We agree the past internet service needed to be improved and appreciate your comments.

Electric BBQ Grills in Each Unit: We wish to have had the opportunity to respond to any problem with a grill during your visit. While some condo’s also have gas grills, every unit is furnished with an outdoor electric BBQ grill, in part to ensure no propane issues. Also, we keep spares on hand in case of loss or malfunction.

Our goal is to provide all guests with a great Vail experience that leads to positive feedback.
We hope you will return to Vail and to the Racquet Club.

Sincerely,

The Racquet Club Staff and Management

“It is a perfect place to stay. it is every thing you wish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

I have be staying at the Racquet Club every year since 1990 and it's like home away when I visit in the winter and summer. The staff and the facilities are outstanding.
Think about it. Health Club, Tennis Courts, Outdoor Swimming Pool, Hot Tubs and right on the Gore Creek.
First visit scout around and find the best condo, then request that unit for your next visit. The staff will do their best to meet your requests.

“Loved Everything About This Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

We loved everything about the Vail Racquet Club. It was a perfect stay
1. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was kind and eager to help.
2. We took advantage of the athletic club that's on site. The pool is beautiful. A great place to hang out for the day of rest after an extensive hike or bike ride. We took a swim lesson (w/Joey) and participated in yoga class. Upon check-in we received a list of free classes for the week. We don't play tennis, but the courts looked beautiful.
3 It was quiet, six miles from the center of Vail. We prefer to cook simple meals in our unit, so we didn't need restaurants right outside our door. There are MANY restaurants in Vail and parking is free in the summer. This would not be a good place for anyone looking for nightlife out your front door. Although they weren't needed, there are listed quiet hours from 10pm-7am.
4. The location. It was perfect for us. The trailhead of one of our favorite 'warm up" hikes was less than two miles away. Leadville, The Collegiate Peaks, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek and Glennwood Springs are all within an hours drive.
5. Our unit was wonderful. It was a one-bedroom condo. Very comfortable and well equipped. Each room has a safe, so the earlier comments about theft should not be an issue. There is some road noise, but most places in Vail has some due to Interstate 70 being so close.

“After a first schock, it turned quite OK!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Our first choice appartment looked like out of a flee market collection place. But after we refused to stay there, we received a reasonable and nice appartment . There was no hesitation at all to give us a another place but it cost us an extra hour back and forth. So I guess if peolple take anything they are served, can try it first of all. The appartments are individually owned so they are equipped according to the owners taste, and that is OK. What is not OK is for a 4 star facility to have even one such appartment for rent!!.
The service was all in all very acceptable. Maybe look a bit more "smily" in the reception. They were helpful and the whole facility was very well kept and the cleanning crew in the appartements did an excellent job. Like in a hotel: beds done, towels changed, garbage removed daily. The firewood was plenty and very much on time when you needed more. The recreation facilities could use a corner to relax. Have a huge room with training equipement but not one couch to sit after a sauna or jacuzzi. The buses drive often enough that there is not too much waiting time, if you miss your bus. But have to keep in mind "rush hour times". Luckily the facility is at the beginning of the bus tour so from there you are sure to always get in.

“Cozy Lodge Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2010

We really enjoyed the room we stayed in, especially its lodgy, cozy qualities. All rooms are different and we got the perfect one. I called early and reserved the loft on the top floor. The stay itself was very nice and comfortable. The best way to describe the room is cozy. We didn't really use any of the facilities, so there is little I can say about that.
The only thing that we didn't like was the fact that since the room was on the fourth floor, and there were no elevators, it wasn't very fun bringing our things in. An elevator certainly wouldn't hurt. Other than that, we really enjoyed the stay.
