“Nice and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

Our Holiday ski vacation at the Wren worked out nicely. Our one bedroom unit was a bit cramped, but our two children were perfectly comfortable on the fold out bed. The water was always hot for a bath or shower, kitchen was well stocked and the unit was fresh and acceptably clean. We would stay there again. Do not expect to be waited on hand and foot, though.

“Extensive Renovation Underway Ruined Our Fall Vacation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

The Wren staff failed to inform its customers of planned renovations for the fall time period. Upon our arrival we found the parking lot strewn with constrruction equipment , and workers. Renovation included stonework on the front of the building, major painting underway, and other maintenance to include the use of air compressors, drilling, scaffolding, ladders, etc... Just making our way to and from our room was like traveling through a maze. Parking is at your own risk, with extreme chance of damage to your vehicle. Even with the view, I recommend looking elseware!

“Great Stay with two young daughters”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2010

We stayed here during week of President's day with our 6 and 9 year old daughters and had a great time. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, and the decor pleasantly reminded me of 1970s/1980s "modern", which is probably about when it was built/designed. The pool and hot tubs were great as was the daily shuttle to and from the lifts. If you don't have young children, you could easily walk to the lifts, though perhaps not the first day if you are not used to the altitude.

The managers were very helpful, with our requested humidifiers waiting for us in our rooms. There were pleasant even when I yelled at them when I was suffering from mountain sickness the first night and couldn't figure out how to switch the bathtub faucet to the shower (there is a ring around the spout that you need to pull down).

If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you, but if you are here for the skiing and need a clean, reasonably priced well-maintained condo with two hot tubs, a pool, and other very friendly guests, the Wren is great.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2009

We had a great vacation here. The location is perfect for Vail village a short walk from the back of the hotel through a lovely pathway by the river. The condo was very comfortable and clean with everything you need. Our boys enjoyed the pool, volleyball and badminton, both of which you can borrow equipment from the front desk, and they met lots of other kids their age. Although it is a little dated that should definitely not put anyone off from coming here. Vail village is beautiful as is the surrounding area and if anyone is into mountain biking we would recomend going up the gondola in Loinshead to Vail mountain where you will find easy and intermediate trails, we have 9 and 12 yr old boys who loved it.

“Easter Ski Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2009
1
person found this review helpful

We were a mixed group of 8 on an easter ski trip from the UK to Vail.
We stayed in rooms 210 and 417. The previous review is correct about 417- there is noise from the lift gear in the 'Den' bedroom, so if you are a light sleeper stay away from 417.
210 was our main base room for the rest of the group- 3 bedrooms. 1 king ensuite bathroom, 1 double, 1 twin. Double and twin share a bathroom off the main corridor.
The ensuite room was a good size, the double which I shared with my wife was ok but we're used to a king size bed at home so it took a little getting used to. One small negative- there's no mirror in the double room so my wife had to wait for the bathroom.

Overall the accomodation looks slightly tired but is maintained well. If we reported any problems then they were delt with quickly. The shuttle bus was a god send for skiers- it's just that bit too far to walk in ski boots. Boarders can easily walk back from the slopes in 10 minutes.

For the balance between price and proximity to the slopes (and walking to Vail Village in the evening) you can't really beat this place. If I came to Vail again I might be tempted to book last minute and try to get something that's ski-in ski-out. If you need to book early then this is a good option.

As a note there is some background noise from the I-70, but nothing to keep me awake.
