“Good location in Lionshead”

We stayed at the Vail Spa Condominiums in December as part of a ski group. The condo is a reasonable (150-200 yards) walk to the gondola, but is also served by the free local shuttle that runs about every 10-15 minutes. We stayed in room 309 which was clean and well maintained, but based on other units in our group was very sparse and low-end. A flat screen TV in the living room would have been nice. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and seemed genuinely appreciative of our business. The hot beverages (coffee, spiced cider and hot chocolate) in the lobby was a welcome treat after a day of skiing or coming back from the hot tub and the ski locker was very convenient. Speaking of the hot tub, there are two - one inside and the other outside. They were sufficiently hot and well maintained, but did not seem to be open until mid-afternoon. They had an inside pool and a heated one outside that looked inviting, but we didn't try them out. You may want to take advantage of the locker room next to the pool area for showereing after the hot tub and changing into regular clothes. It is clean and the shower area large.

As noted in other reviews, there was noise from the highway, but given that it was winter with the windows closed, it was fairly minimal. Since the entire Vail Village is located right next to I-70, it may be next to impossible to avoid.

“Good Location - Colorado Summer Trip with family”

We chose vail spa condo's after much debate on whether we should stay in Breckenridge or Vail. We chose vail in the end - and chose vail spa as our place to stay. We stayed in unit 526 which is a 2 floor, 3 bedroom condo. We are a family of 5 (kids 5, 8, 10) and the layout was perfect. The decor was excellent - and nicely updated and appointed throughout.

The staff were kind and friendly. The wireless didn't work well at all. I ended up buying the local access and the staff credited me that cost.

A warning - the place got HOT. Yes we were having hotter days - but the sun runs into the room all day (a good thing!!!!!) just make sure there are some box fans there.

Another warning - there is a LOT of road noise. This place of most gets the road noise all day and night. Oddly enough, the fans on all night blocked out the road noise.

I used the fitness center - and it was GREAT. There is an indoor and outdoor pool. Good for those times where there is a threat of lightning or rain.

We used the gondola quite a bit - and My 10 year old and I rented mountain bikes and came down the mountain several times.

“Great option in the Lionshead area”

Three of us were in Vail for a conference at the Marriott. The Marriott was sold out so we looked for something within walking distance. The accommodations we had at the Vail Spa ended up better than if we had stayed in the Marriott for much less. The three bedroom unit we had (#315) worked out perfect for us, separate spaces for all of us and was modern, clean and very comfortable.

We didn't check out many of the hotel amenities as we didn't have time but the walk to the conference at the Marriott was easier than we had stayed at the Marriott. Local transportation stops right at the front door so getting anywhere in Vail is very easy. This will be our first option if we have another conference or if we just want to get away for a few days in the Vail area.

Room Tip: The noise from the highway is very noticeable, especially in the summertime with the windows open, s...

“Great Staff, clean condo, yet stuck in the 80's”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

This review is for room 101. Each of the units are different at The Vail Spa.

Pros:
Great location right next to the bus stop.
Very friendly staff who was very helpful when asked.
LARGE condo with patio, grill and flat screed TV (no HD).
Updated kitchen.
Updated bathrooms.

Cons:
VERY dated decor.
King bed was two twins pushed together
Lower quality linens
Unit right next to the lobby, so I would imagine on a busy day, it could be noisy
