We stayed at the Vail Spa Condominiums in December as part of a ski group. The condo is a reasonable (150-200 yards) walk to the gondola, but is also served by the free local shuttle that runs about every 10-15 minutes. We stayed in room 309 which was clean and well maintained, but based on other units in our group was very sparse and low-end. A flat screen TV in the living room would have been nice. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and seemed genuinely appreciative of our business. The hot beverages (coffee, spiced cider and hot chocolate) in the lobby was a welcome treat after a day of skiing or coming back from the hot tub and the ski locker was very convenient. Speaking of the hot tub, there are two - one inside and the other outside. They were sufficiently hot and well maintained, but did not seem to be open until mid-afternoon. They had an inside pool and a heated one outside that looked inviting, but we didn't try them out. You may want to take advantage of the locker room next to the pool area for showereing after the hot tub and changing into regular clothes. It is clean and the shower area large.
As noted in other reviews, there was noise from the highway, but given that it was winter with the windows closed, it was fairly minimal. Since the entire Vail Village is located right next to I-70, it may be next to impossible to avoid.
