My husband and I went to Vail to have a gathering with our friends around New Year Eve and they stayed at Intermountain B&B. We stayed at Hitching Post B&B, which is about 25 minute drive to the west in Eagle.
Hitching Post is a lot cheaper ($89-$99) than Intermountain ($149) due to the distance to Vail. My friends didn't have a car and Intermountain is close to a shuttle stop that can take them to the slopes. This is the second time one of them stayed at Intermountain. Their room has two beds, which is ideal for non-couple parties.
Another difference is Intermountain no longer offers breakfast. We LOVED the breakfasts we had at Hitching Post. Every morning is a different menu and you really feel like doing some sports after a big meal. Judy is a great cook. Her house has a lot of history in it, while Intermountain is a contemporary house.
Overall both are great places to stay. Intermountain is very convenient, and Kay (the host) is so much fun to talk to. On the other hand, if you have a car, it's really not that far to drive to Vail Village from Hitching Post. You get more for your money.
