First time stay here but won't be the last. We are a family of 5 and stayed for 7 days from 12 January, 2012 in a 2BR apartment. On arrival we were greeted by Andrew Purdy the front desk manager. Immediately seeing our children were all adult age offered us a room with a bedding configutaion which was better and allowed each child to have their own bed. A good night's rest after a full day skiing is priceless.
The arrival experience could not be smoother. They come out to greet you, take care of all your luggage (a lot since we came from Australia), check in takes barely 2-3 minutes, give you your keys, explain the facilities of the property and show you to your room. In your room is a personalised letter and a welcome bag containing some locally made biscuits - classy touch.
The staff here led by Andrew are aways warm and friendly and their local knowledge is second to none. If you want to dine out always ask Andrew or the concierge Ashley rather than relying on the local dining out magazines. The places they recommended to us saved us money and were all superb.
Location wise the Mountain Haus is hard to beat. Buses just opposite, the tranportation centre again opposite but up some stairs and skiing out the side door and a short walk to the Vista Bahn Lift. You are in the heart of Vail village so shops and eateries abound.
After a days skiing try out the fantastic gourmet cookies at reception! I don't like American coffee but they have this fancy espresso machine - never even had to look for a coffee shop. Breakfast was also free which was a welcome surprise as were video rentals. Wifi is free and its fast.
Rooms are spacious with a gas fireplace, 2 ensuite bathrooms, full sized dining table and full sized kitchen with quality appliances. We only cooked in once but everything was there. Our room had beautiful views to the ski slopes.
No laundry in your room but this is a good thing. They have an excellent guest laundy with full sized machines and the biggest dryers I have ever seen!!! All soap etc provided free and no coins are needed to operate them. And they service this room throughout the day so it is always tidy.
The spa is great to soak your aching muscles after a days skiing, we even tried out the outdoor spa whilst it was snowing! Now that was an experience. There is also a comprehensive gym.
One thing you will notice about this place is the great attention to detail, all the common areas are regularly serviced throughout the day.
All in all a really top notch property with exemplarary service throughout our stay!!! A great place to stay in Vail.
