We stayed for 4 nights while dropping off our daughter at college.
The room was nice and had alot of space. Didnt really like the pillows. They were kinda small. The staff was great and the workout room came in handy. We even saw a bear at the hotel one night, which was kinda neat.
We did eat here once and the food was good and the beer was cold.

I thought this Holiday Inn was great. Our suite was roomy & everything felt really clean & comfortable. It is along I-25 somewhat, but never a noise problem for us. The air units were very quiet, thank goodness! It is kinda on the outskirts of town just south but no big deal. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice, there is a bar area, & the prices weren't too high either. All in all we would definitely stay here again if ever in this area.

We overnighted since it was 10 hours driving time from Phoenix. Besides Trinidad, there are no major hotel chains on I-25 between Albuquerque and Colorado Springs. It was a little more expensive than we would pay, so only three for value but the La Quinta in town was even more expensive. Part of the price difference is that the La Quinta offers a free breakfast while the Holiday Inn does not. The Holiday in room was everything that had been advertised. The staff was friendly. All the paperwork was in order. We checked in without issue.

The room was new and clean. The bed had both soft and firm pillows, with tags indicating soft ones. My wife, who is bed sensitive, enjoyed her sleep. There was an armchair and footstool. It also had one of the biggest flat screen TVs we had seen recently, the website says that they are 40 inches wide. We had no noise problems, either with the guests or the Interstate. There was a pool and exercise room plus vending machines, although we did not try them out. You should be aware that it did not offer nor provide a refrigerator or microwave, while the La Quinta website indicates that they do. The Holiday Inn also allows small pets for a fee but we left ours at home. Most importantly, the Holiday Inn is smoke free inside, which was a big plus. This was one of the reasons we picked the Holiday Inn over the hotels we considered in Raton.

My rating the rating is five dots based on that this Holiday Inn met and exceeded the quality of some three star and above hotels we have stayed at. It is not a five star/diamond experience but they don't claim to be.

I would probably rate the hotel itself in the four-to five star category....it was clean, modern, and quiet despite full occupancy. It was obvious that much care and attention had been given in selecting the design and furnishings. If only such attention was given to its restaurant operation, because it needs a lot. The bad service was equaled by the poor quality of the food. Despite being one of only two tables occupied, we never saw our waitress again after she served our very overcooked meals--no refills of iced tea, etc. Another server ended up bringing our bill, and then never returned. So we paid in cash and left. Upon checkout the following morning, I informed the hotel managers of our unpleasant experiences and they were apologetic and promised to follow-up on our complaints.
If you plan to stay in Trinidad, stay here but eat elsewhere.
