“pleasant stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

excellent boutique style hotel at the base of the gondola in the town of telluride. awesome january ski free special included lift tickets with the room. continental style breakfast with good coffee, fresh pastries and muesli with yogurt included. the owner michael serves complimentary wine, cheese and good conversation apres ski.
a large, just right temperature hot tub is on the second floor with a steam room and shower, perfect for relaxing the muscles after a hard day of skiing; although the filter room sometime lets out an odd smell.
adjoining bbq joint is a happening place to have a beer after the lifts close. entire town of telluride is withing walking distance, or you can take the gondola up to the mountain village and back until midnight i was told.
staff is friendly and helpful; autumn and scott quickly fixed a misunderstanding with our reservation.

Room Tip: if they are not full ask for an upgrade to a room with a view of the ski slope overlooking the lift...

“Perfect stay - enjoyed our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We just returned from a group ski trip to Telluride and fortunately chose to stay in the Camel's Garden Select room. As noted, the hotel includes a generous continental breakfast (assorted breads provided by Baked in Telluride) and a wine and cheese bar each evening. The rooms and baths are large and include a fireplace and balcony. We had a back corner room with large windows and light and 2 balconies. The tub is a large soaking tub and the shower head is wonderful after a day of skiing. The king bed was very comfy and the down comforter warm and cozy. The wifi service in our room was spotty at best, but we did obtain help from the desk, & used the computer in the common area on occasion when we couldn't connect. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful at all times during our stay. Our only 'complaint' was that there was no in-hotel laundry, a minor inconvenience. Free overnight ski storage is available with a separate entrance (ski tuneups also available). The location is perfect, with the mountain gondola steps from the hotel. You can also ski down almost to the entrance. Main street (Colorado Ave) is a couple of blocks from the hotel and there are many good restaurants, shopping, and night life within walking distance of this great hotel. Oak (former Fat Alley's bbq) and Telluride Sports are located off the lobby of the hotel. There is also underground parking if you drive. We took a shuttle from Montrose airport.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the back, away from gondola are quieter. Same owners as the Icehouse. We have also stay...

“Great location, and awesome hot tub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights for a snowboarding trip. We booked a king deluxe room through sniqueaway.com
The location is unbeatable. The free gondola is literally right outside the window. There is also a chair lift that takes you midway up he mountain.
As much as people say other hotels have shuttles that take them to the lift, you cannot beat the convenience of taking off your skis/board and just walking 5 steps into your hotel.
Telluride main st is 1 block away and since the town is quite small, you can walk to all the eateries/museum/stores.
Our room was very spacious and had lots of storage space (large wardrobe and drawers). Lots of lamps and many outlets in literally every corner of the room which I loved being that nowadays everyone has a phone/iPad/computer/camera etc that needs charging.
Bed was super comfortable and lots of pillows.
Bathroom was huge and even came with cotton balls and q tips; details that make a guest feel welcome.
Large flat screen (but no hd :( )
Despite the gondola being right outside, we were not bothered by any noise but we were there during a lull (lack of snow)
Breakfast got tiring by the 3rd day, bagels, instant oatmeal, cereal, bananas, pastries and such. Good selection of teas, hot chocolate, coffee. But considering price of eating out in telluride, we figured it wasn't so bad.
Hot tub is beautiful. Amazing view!
Friendly staff.
Only strange problem, which really is a first world problem, is that it was sooooo hot in the room. We turned off the heat but apparently it never turns off. We had to keep the windows open to make it bearable. I love being warm, so for me to be too hot, it says a lot. (room 211)
Also this didn't help the dryness. Humidifier in room would have bumped up to 5 stars.
Overall highly recommend.

“Got an online promotion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I had the pleasure of staying at the Camel Garden in from one of those online deal websites. I could not have been more happy. The deal included some drinks and spa services. The location is the key for this place right where the chairlift is and you can get to the main street where all the night life and restaurants are located. As well as get on the chair lift to go to the other part of the mountain if you want to have dinner there. The staff was very friendly and very good with recommendations. I look forward to going back this year.

“Really Enjoyed Our Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We just returned from Telluride and I must say, Camel Garden is THE place to stay. The room was large and included a fireplace and balcony. The oversized tub was very comfortable. The down blanket kept us very warm. Not to mention the huge hot tub with an attached sauna and nice warm towels to use. The parking is underground and very convenient. When we checked in, Autumn was gracious and welcoming and set the mood for our stay. Because we went during the off season, the Gondola, wasn't working, but during ski season, I can see where it would be super convenient since it is a just a few steps from the hotel. Also, there is a ski lift. Great location, would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends as well.
