we chose to stay in the town of Telluride, after much research and it was a most unique experience - you could almost see ghosts of old miners and cowboys wondering through the town. To make this experience even better, we stayed at the New Sheridan Hotel which provides great rooms, fantastic, understated, friendly service and a great 'buzz'. We loved it and will return again.

As business travelers, we stay at the New Sheridan several times a month. They offer complimentary wi-fi, coffee in the lobby and parking. It is the best location in town, right on the main drag. The beds are super comfy, I always get a great nights sleep. We love all the of staff, especially Ray, Bo and Mike. Everyone is very helpful and nice. The hot tubs on the roof are super cool! We just finished a great breakfast and tasty bloody marys in the Parlor. Yum!

The local Telluride daily advertised a bar dinner sirloin steak/wine special which we (couple) tried after a great day's skiing. We sat at the bar and ordered the steak and two sides.
The sirloin steak was outstanding, the wine included in the deal good and the service excellent (unobtrusive and friendly). The side dishes were good and the bagette and butter fresh too. There was a real buzz in the whole place, which was suprizing given the quietness of the town's retail stores. So check the daily rag for details.

My husband and I stayed at the New Sheridan for 7 nights in January. Our overall experience was excellent.

Room: The room was very clean and well-appointed, with everything I could want easily at-hand: good heat, big bathroom with very hot water, super comfortable bed and pillows, plenty of towels, hair drier, alarm clock, wireless access, hot-tubs, big bath-robes, etc.

Ski Accomodations: Ski equipment storage was well-considered: mud-room lockers, boot warmers, elevators, etc. The walk to the Oak Street Lift and Gondala was only three blocks. Ask at the hotel desk about lift ticket discounts.

Food & Drink: The hotel has a casual, happening bar with whatever drinkables you might desire at a reasonable price for generous pours. As for food, there is a classy chop-house restaurant with wine bar if you should feel in the mood to have an upscale dinner.

Management: The hotel is managed with relaxed expertise by Team Bo and Mike, who were very gracious and accomodating. Finally, I would add that the maid service is excellent and consistent with fresh linens and towels.

In conclusion: If you can find a ski-in, ski-out for a comparable price, it would be worth considering. However, given the quality of the room and the proximity of the Telluride offerings, we can't think of any reason to consider staying elsewhere.
