“What a location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

Travelled to Telluride during July 10 on the recommendation of a friend and what a recommendation it was, spectacular. Hotel is nice clean and well located in town and is situated only 2 mins walk from the gondola. The hotel has no frills or spills but its all about the location and views of Telluride itself. Got a very good walk in rate from the Telluride tourist information office on the entrance to the town.

“Best Value in Telluride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2010

We spent five nights at the Ice House Lodge in early January 2010 and were extremely satisfied. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. You are literally one block from Telluride Sports (ski rental) and the Gondola to Mountain Village. In addition, the Lodge is walking distance to all of the restaurants in downtown Telluride. The rooms were clean and spacious with recently updated bathrooms. The accommodations include a continental breakfast that is worth its weight in gold. The spread includes granola and other cereals, fresh fruit, fresh juice, Starbucks coffee, yogurt, toast, and fantastic homemade bagels and doughnuts from "Baked in Telluride" -- a local bakery. The staff at the Ice House goes out of its way to make you feel at home. The star of the show is Rico Gardner, the lodge's honorary MC. He is the barkeep at the quaint watering hole on the second floor which is aptly named "Rico's." Rico is joined by his partner in crime, Belle, a sweet little bulldog who is Telluride's honorary mascot. If you see Rico, tell him Brian from Philly (now Texas) says "Yo."

“Best Location in Town Plus Private and Quiet”

The Ice House has been the standby hotel that I recommend to all friends who visit Telluride since I briefly lived there from 1994-1996. Now, it's 2010, and it does not disappoint. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. The spa with it's indoor/outdoor heated pool and tubs is amazing. You feel like you are the only person staying there, until you need something. They have a wonderful continental breakfast in the morning to get you headed to the slopes, and you are only one block from the Gondola and Lift Chair 8. If you're looking for pomp, circumstance, a concierge, crowds or noise, Ice House is not for you. But if you want to stay at a nice, quiet hotel that's in the middle of all of the action when you step outside, Icehouse is it. The Icehouse Lodge remains the best hotel in Telluride.

“Just what we were looking for in Telluride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2009

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ice House Lodge for five nights and we can’t say enough good things about our experience there. The accommodations (Suite 303) were just what we were looking for—extremely clean, comfortable, spacious, ambient, and a terrific location (one block to the chairlift & gondola). Each day we looked forward to having a drink (or two!) in Rico’s bar, which was steps from our door on the third floor. We found Rico to be the kind of guy that can bring a room full of strangers together and make them feel like old friends before the evening is over. His bulldog, Belle, was a great source of amusement for us, too. Rico and Belle are perfect ambassadors to the town. I recommend a visit to Rico’s even if you are not a guest of the hotel. The continental breakfast, served each morning, was all we needed for morning fuel—bagels, cereal, juice, donuts, and yogurt. Ryan, the reservations manager, was extremely accommodating, as was the rest of the front desk staff. I can’t wait to get back to Telluride and we will definitely stay at the Ice House again. The town of Telluride is incredibly beautiful and it is definitely a dog town, which suited me perfectly. The restaurants in town are very expensive, which we expected but service & food were hit or miss. I would have expected friendlier service from the lucky people who get to live in Telluride but most (but not all!) servers and store clerks really did not go out of their way to engage, some were downright rude. I live in a ski town in Vermont and find the same to be true there--I just don’t get it. We did find the employees of the ski resort to be much friendlier.
