I stayed @ Montana Placer in unit #5 10 years ago, and had a blissful stay. Sadly, my return visit in July 2010 was a disaster and nothing like my first stay. I arrived in the evening, and was dropped off in front of the Inn. There was a for sale sign in front, the front was wide open but led into the former reception area-turned construction/storage closet. It was an unclean mess, and a major disappointment. I realized that in fine print on the confirmation they had provided the direction to go to the office to pick up a code first, but no mention had been made to that effect nor was it highlighted, which given the direction was at the bottom of the confirmation would have been appreciated, albeit not necessary.
Even before I had arrived, I was concerned about the stay as 2 days prior before to my departure I had reached out to confirm my arrival (again, no mention was made about arrival instructions) and only at that point, the sales person informed me there was a construction project going on next door (well beyond the 10 day advance notice for me to pull out of the reservation had I known this). Therefore, on Monday morning I was awoken to jack hammers and a major construction project outside my door step.
I was heading to Telluride for a relaxing vacation, and the accommodation was anything but that. The construction lasted each night from 730/8am until about 7pm and was a massive disappointment. I phoned to let the agency know I would be moving out, and I suggested they refund me the unused nights so I could find alternatives for a place to stay. They would not budge, aside from trying to push me into another of their properties, which never appealed in the first place. They were rude, unaccommodating and dishonest in their business ethics. I will never stay at any of their properties or suggest doing so to anyone.
Note: in addition to the construction issues, I arrived to find empty beer bottles on the balcony, the bedroom carpet/bed spread looked like they had not been cleaned in the 10 years since my last stay, and there was an overall sense of dirtiness with the property.
