OMG! I stay at hotels about 45 weeks a year. This was the worst I have ever stayed at. The owner was very rude, rooms were filthy, and there were BUGS! I was given a FLYSWATTER rather than a different room, or spray. I killed AT LEAST 40 flies and a COCKROACH tonight. I will NOT be staying here another night. I had planned on staying here all week for work. Avoid at all costs. Not clean at all.

  • Liked — nothing at all. i left early
  • Disliked — the cockroaches and the owner

Stayed two nights at the Colonial Motel, in Sterling, CO. We were traveling between places and had wanted to see the historical museum here. The motel was just so-so - acceptable for $44 for two. Well, we were looking for cheap and it was that, but no better.

The historical museum here is WONDERFUL, though - don't miss it! What a surprise in such a small, out-of-the-way place. It's BIG, in a gorgeous stone building, with many displays, all marked and well explained and interesting. Outside in the back, they have a fabulous collection of authentic old buildings, uprooted from their original spots; the city pays to create a new foundation for them and the staff does the rest. There's an old store, barbershop, schoolroom, church and barn, with two other buildings on the way but not yet finished. The staff are all city employees! What a good idea, instead of volunteers. Beautiful gardens around all the buildings, by the way - all very photogenic!

We also found a decent place to eat - see "T. J. Bummer's."
