“Nice-Just Dont Stay During Holidays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

This motel was nice. Simply not the location i expected. Right on US6. I stayed here because i was visiting my mom in Fleming and i needed to stay at a motel. I checked out TripAdvisor and found this Motel. The price was great. I stayed in Room #3. Btw this is not a chain motel. I figured Fleming was just a 15 minute drive to Sterling. It did take me 25 minutes due to traffic lights around Sterling. I did find maybe 2 or 3 flies. The road was very busy due to Christmas travel. I will stay here again!

“Small, Small Price, Great Value”

I have now stayed at the Colonial Hotel the past 2 weeks and I want this small motel to get a fair shake. Colonial is not a chain motel but they do have refridgerators and microwaves in their rooms, accept pets, smoking or nonsmking rooms, cable tv while the rooms are large and have sitting areas and adequate desk space. They also have free wireless internet! YEs I said Free wireless Internet. I used the internet the entire time I stayed both times and it works great, unlike the Ramada in town where I could not get my computer to stay on line and had major trouble getting e-mails and internet signal at all. The Coloniat is very small but very nice on the outside you get to park right infront of your room and their express check-out is so easy. You just leave your key in your room and off you go. They have a coffee pot in the bathrooms and while it is old fashioned I found that it worked quite nicely. The owners seem nice and they told me that in their double rooms they are putting in 42" TV's in this week.

For the price that I paid it is a true bargain. So if you can handle small, small price with good value then you should stay here. To me it seemes more like staying with family and less like a hotel. The beds are comfortable enough and the sheets are well flowered and clean with comfortable velux blankets on them. You get the same kind of towels that you would use at home and at the desks they have power outlet at desk level for easy access. I will stay there again and I think others should give them a try.

OMG! I stay at hotels about 45 weeks a year. This was the worst I have ever stayed at. The owner was very rude, rooms were filthy, and there were BUGS! I was given a FLYSWATTER rather than a different room, or spray. I killed AT LEAST 40 flies and a COCKROACH tonight. I will NOT be staying here another night. I had planned on staying here all week for work. Avoid at all costs. Not clean at all.

  • Liked — nothing at all. i left early
  • Disliked — the cockroaches and the owner

Stayed two nights at the Colonial Motel, in Sterling, CO. We were traveling between places and had wanted to see the historical museum here. The motel was just so-so - acceptable for $44 for two. Well, we were looking for cheap and it was that, but no better.

The historical museum here is WONDERFUL, though - don't miss it! What a surprise in such a small, out-of-the-way place. It's BIG, in a gorgeous stone building, with many displays, all marked and well explained and interesting. Outside in the back, they have a fabulous collection of authentic old buildings, uprooted from their original spots; the city pays to create a new foundation for them and the staff does the rest. There's an old store, barbershop, schoolroom, church and barn, with two other buildings on the way but not yet finished. The staff are all city employees! What a good idea, instead of volunteers. Beautiful gardens around all the buildings, by the way - all very photogenic!

We also found a decent place to eat - see "T. J. Bummer's."
